I agree. Besides, it is crazy heavy IMO

I always wanted a designer bag for so many years but couldnt afford the guccis or the LV's. But when the paddy came along it was love at first sight and i HAD to have one. It took a few years and a fake off ebay for me to find tPF. Here i had help getting my first real paddy and its still a strong love affair.

I have 3 paddy's now. I'm drawn to their look. If the bag was a useless style it wouldnt continue to be so popular. it fits A LOT and those side pockets fit even more. I think the fact that its still selling strong at a high price for older bags, and new ones still being produced - well thats pretty iconic in itself.
I've had and still have heavier bags, the lock doesnt add all the weight to the paddy. Taking it off makes little difference to its weight.

Some styles just dont appeal to everyone. Take the LV canvas for eg. I hate that monogram canvas, and the damier as well. blergghhhh.
Its canvas for goodness sake. Its hard as a rock, it soo stiff. The only style of theirs i like is a suede one. but its everywhere, to the point where the fakes have overtaken the population.

The paddy - It's not for all people - but its still love for me.

I have to agree with you there, the LVs are massively produced, so much so everyone has one be it real or fake. I rarely see any Paddingtons, those that I do are usually fake whereas I see LV everywhere I look and theyre so boring!! I absolutely love Paddingtons, so much so I now have 5 all in different colours from 05-06 and I love them all!!!

Embarassing to admit...But in my case Chloé got me with the Bay, not the Paddington...I never could comprehend her status of an "It-Bag". I always liked it on others ( still do ) but it just was not a bag for me...
I got one ( in 2007 I guess ) for a few months because I thought it would be a "must" for every Chloé lover and my own collection but finally I gave it away because I never felt in love with it...The only Paddy that could lead me into temptation would probably be a capsule...black or bleu de nuit with silver chain and hardware....but for me that's not a "real" Paddington...

the paddington was the first ever designer bag i wanted and that i had to have, previously designer bags didn't have any place in my life, seeing the paddy in some magazines changed that. my first one was an excellent fake and in trying to make sure it was real i found TPF and, eventually, and thanks to the chloe girls i bought my first real 2005 paddy.
i find the bag unique, the shape, that padlock...i just love it.
and yes, it isn't everybody's cup of tea but i am not mad on the LV daumiers or murakamis...variety is the spice of life and what makes us interesting.
i have only two paddys and love them!

The paddy bought me to TPF as well. I don't mind the weight and I am no body builder.

My main gripe about the lock is not actually the weight the lock adds to the bag but the position of it. Right in the middle of the bag where you want to get things in and out?!?! I understand the bag asthetically but I will only own one. ii have thought about selling her but I just can't bring myself to do it!

The Paddy is also what brought me to TPF....I have gone through many paddies but only have one left...I love looking at pictures of the paddy and the supple leather still blows me away. My true Chloe love also lies in the quilted bay, now thats the perfect bag for me!

I loved Paddy's when they first came out, but after I accidentally assaulted several children and knocked into glass tables, they became a tad tedious. I hold on to mine mainly for nostalgia - but I'd much rather carry my Balenciaga's.

No. I don't have any love for the paddy now, only in the past.

My first love was the Silverado, and shortly after that an anthracite Paddy.
I still love her and carry her - heavy as she is!
Last week, I found a python paddy on sale for 60% off!!
So, Yes, I still love my ever changing Chloe/Paddy family!

Still love it, but I've only discovered it a few months ago. I just got my first Paddington less than two weeks ago; it's a front pocket satchel of 2007 in nuage. I am now having an 05 regular satchel on the way in the rarest color- bleu nuit. The leather on the 07 is already pretty impressive, thick, kind of soft, kind of smooshy, again, thick, lol. However, I hear it's nowhere near the 05 in terms of puddly-ness, which also has a much heavier lock. The best in terms of metal and leather seems to be the 05 according to the Paddy fans, and I can see how the newer versions just don't compare. I would love a metallic one though w/ a diamante lock.

Oh, and the weight? Hell, I am about heftiness, heaviness, clunkiness when it comes to certain bags, like the Paddy!

I like them plus I always figure that the weight could save my life in a mugging- smack someone up side the head with it and get away safely :-)
