Default Cynthia Vincent Fairfax Convertible Tote
I’ll be the first to say that I can appreciate when a designer does something a little weird. If no one ever went off the beaten path, we’d never have any new trends to look for and fawn over, and it’d be much harder for me to find stuff to write about every day. So, on both an artistic and practical level, I like a little eccentricity in my day.

But often, the weirdness just doesn’t work. The handle structure of the Cynthia Vincent Fairfax Convertible Tote is really throwing me for a loop.

The shape of the bag itself is fine, if something we’ve seen before. Even the leather color is nice – a smoky grey-blue that I covet for fall. It looks like it would be soft and usable. All indicators are go.

Until I look at the handle, that is. I appreciate that they tried to do something architectural and unexpected with something that could be (and usually is) very boring, but the proportion is all wrong here. Instead of complimenting the overall design, the handle overpowers everything and takes the focus off of how it works as a whole. I can barely look at the bag without staring at the handle, and I doubt that was the designer’s intent. Buy through Luna Boston for $425.

Someone tried too hard in designing this bag. Not for me.

There is something not quite right with the way the handle works with this bag.

Cut the length in half and that would be an ok bag.
