Hi there, I haven't chimed in on this topic as both my 3 day sale purchases went smoothly without having to deal with MB at all - I used Visa no problem.
So today I receive word that my BEC is ready to go and Maya sends me the link to pay the remaining balance due - I hit the link, log in to my BE account and go to pay and of course, get the error message that MB has frozen my account and I have to contact them, etc. So I closed my browser down and hit the link Maya sent me again - this time I didn't log into my account - I just paid via a different credit card as an unregistered customer and it went through. Not sure if this solution will work for others (or if I am fooling myself and they will somehow bounce the payment back) but kind of interesting.... There doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason to any of this! |

That is fascinating.
Maybe MB automatically freezes the third transaction. I did 2 transactions on my 1st card without trouble (the balance for my BEC and then £9 more for shipping), then 2 transaction on my 2nd card OK (2 separate sale purchases), bounced back to the 1st card and got frozen, tried the 2nd card and got frozen on that too. I was logged in on all occasions but unfortunately I do not have a third card to try. |

hi sorry if i'm being a bit dense here but i have been keeping my DH informed about this thread (he works in data warehousing for a large IT company). he said he can't understand why BE can't just have a c card terminal and key in the purchase taking the card details from the BE system, (and process as a Customer not Present transaction) rather than use Moneybookers? App a lot of providers do this , and he hasn't noticed any other major retailers fundamentally change the way they process payments because of the FSA regs... Also i think i posted earlier that Moneybookers and Paypal are 3rd party providers and so you are not convered under Sale of goods Act etc if there is any come back... i do appreciate that however now Jackie has agreed to use MB this will be difficult to unpick, and dont want to sound like i'm doing anyone a dis-service..Also although i appreciate everything Jackie has said about security of MB i would be extremely unhappy about emailing copies of personal docs - i remember i had to fax my marriage cert to get my Paypal acct details changed a few years ago (never mind emailing it!) and that freaked me out!!)..

Hmm..I don't think having to manually process all cc transactions is the best way to go.. that requires overhead and requires someone to be there to process them -- when buying on a website, imho the transaction needs to "go through" at the time of purchase... If I bought something from a website and submitted my cc# on a form, I would want to know instantly that my purchase went through -- I wouldn't want to see "thanks for your order, we'll process your card tomorrow" kind of thing...

The basis point is that unless lots of other companies already have an FSA compliant system in place i haven't noticed fundamental changes on checkouts for other companies when i buy online..You don't get directed to Moneybookers when paying for groceries, or books, or toiletries on line so how have other organisations gone through this process unscathed??? I've bought stuff off LV and Hermes websites before and when i have received the goods it is always flagged as "Cardholder not present" on invoice...i bet actually when you put in your card details on a lot of websites and you get an email saying your order has been processed and card debited, in reality nothing happens with your order or picking the stock till the following working day, it's only the same thing...i'm sure people would rather have this system than sending off copies of their drivers licence, passport and inside leg measurement to a company abroad just so they can but online...Also it means your card would be debited by the company, not by Moneybookers on your card statement... as i posted earlier processing thru a 3rd party payment provider in the Uk anyway means you are not covered under sales legislation if there is a problem...that's the bit i'm not happy with, althou my c card went thru with no probs on BE site i still don't like it when my c card statement says Moneybookers... |

You know what? It just dawned on me that I didn't log in either. Just went straight to pay for the bag, and I had no problem with MB or the CC (other than I switched to Visa kuz of Amex's fee). |
