Hey, you need to keep us updated on the wedding plans too. I have been in too many weddings to mention, so if you ever need an opinion...

I want to get back in shape too. I've always been a little chubby, but I think my ideal weight would be about 9 pounds less than where I am now. I'd be happy with 5 pounds because that weight is a lot easier for me to maintain. I really need to eat healthy and stop eating dinner late. I'm also trying to get my immune system healthy again. I started a new job in April and that combined with too many late nights and drinking were really bad for my body. I just started drinking apple cider vinegar and aloe vera juice so I'll see how that goes.

Thanks LB! Turns out my teeth are in perfect condition, but there are a couple gum areas that are in a pretty bad way apparently. Don't know why as I always clean my teeth and go to the dentist every 6 months. The dentist said it might be genetic rather than anything else. Have got to see a 'special' hygienist in order to stem it all. Am not feeling too happy about it as the dentist advised me that I should ask for anaesthetic! (Admittedly, she knows I have a very low pain threshold - she's had give the max. amount of lignocaine on me more than once. Even she began to sweat...!!)

we still haven't picked out a resort -- although I think I've narrowed it down to the Barcelo Maya Palace or the Princess Grand Riviera (both in Mexico)... I want a really nice place that is also affordable for our guests. it's easy to find the "best" but then if nobody can go, is it worth it? I'm finding it challenging to say the least! Some of the more affordable all-inclusive resorts seem a bit "let's go drink all we can, puke, and stuff our faces while smoking in the pool"-ish and I really want to avoid that...
I'll keep you guys posted as things progress.

weight loss update: 13 pounds down since jun 18, joined a new gym and have actually started going

WOW! Thirteen pounds is a lot! Congratulations!

Have you looked at Antigua? I met a huge group of my English relatives there a few years back. It did seem quite reasonable, and had some of the most beautiful beaches I have seen. The only drawback is there isn't a lot to do besides eat, drink and play on the beach unless you drive to St. James where there is some shopping.

Lilac - The more the merrier! Sometimes it's harder to lose the last 5 lbs than the first 15 lbs. Keep us posted on what's working.

CB - That really stinks. We will be here if you need some motivation to get you there.

I have worked out for 1 hour every day this week and I am preparing a grilled chicken salad for dinner. I'm using fat free ranch dressing and know the high fructose corn syrup in it is bad, but c'mon... I love ranch dressing.

It's definitely not like the old saying about riding a bike!lol
I did a lot of ice skating and roller skating as a kid. Most of my roller skating was on the adjustable metal skates that you wore over your shoes. I remember doing the twirls, skating backwards, and trying to show off! It was a special treat to go to the roller rink and use real skates.

Inline skating is a lot easier than I thought it would be. For years, I thought about it but figured it would be too hard to learn as an adult. I'm glad I finally got over that. I started inline skating in 2000 and I'm on my 5th pair of skates now. I keep upgrading every two years to get bigger wheels.

I bet more women would try skating if they knew what an amazing job it does on the hips, butt, legs, and arms (if you swing them when you skate).

It seriously has been motivating because I REALLY want those bags!

We did consider Antigua, Barbados, St Lucia, St John, and a few others, but for our guests it's almost double (or triple in some cases) the price of the all-inclusive resort in Mexico. It's important to us that our friends and family be there so we wanted to keep costs down for them.... plus the beaches on the mayan riveria really are amazing...

I think that is so wonderful. I've been to Mexico several times and the beaches there are lovely. Frankly, I wouldn't even care where my wedding was as long as I could be surrounded by the people I loved.

So, how is the healthy lifestyle going? I am excited to say I lost three pounds! I know that doesn't seem like much, but I used to be quite fit and for some reason every time I start working out the muscle comes back quicker than the fat leaves so I usually gain weight!

Yay for everyone getting healthy! I finally went back to the gym yesterday after months and months- I want to go at least 5 times a week and drop at 30 lbs and then we'll see from there how I feel. I had messed up my ankle and was in braces and a walking boot for over 3.5 months and now it is fine. So, going to get back on track now w/ my goals.

On book talk, those of you that read the Jonathan Strange book by Susanna Clark- when does it get interesting?! I cannot get into it at all. I'm only into the first few chapters and I have to say, it is dull as dirt. Does it get better or should I just drop it?

congrats on the 3 pounds! I'm trucking along but feel as though I'm doomed this week. I'm bloated and cranky AND I'm leaving for Vegas on Wednesday. It's going to be really difficult to stay on track there... I know I will "cheat" but my goal for this week is to stay the same, and not gain anything. It'll be tough though....
