From what I have just read about her, I will definitely heed your advice.

Oh dear CB, you have clearly been doing some research, I think you have got the vampire bug. Charlaine Harris is a Laurell K Hamilton rip-off merchant but with a bit more plot and a lot less mindless p*rn.

I think it's just a phase I'm going through - my thirst will be sated shortly!

I'm all of a twinkle in the sunlight! (Humphf, now you've got me thinking about Edward again and that's not good for my blood pressure, on the other hand that could be a distinct advantage ...)

I just realized that one one has mentioned my all time favorite vampire book.."The Historian"...by Elizabeth Kostova, which supplanted Anne Rice's in my all star vampire hall of fame..(The B/W movie "Nosferatu" (sic) gave me the heebie jeebies when I saw it on the local PBS station when I was about 8).

BTW..have any of you read Diane Setterfields's book, "The Thirteenth Tale"...delightfully Bronte'esque in genre..all gothy and moody...and twisty and macbre and fun..a bit like "Rebecca" as well..(No..not Rebecca of Sunnybrooke farm..nothing sunny about this one)...also.."The Book of Lost Things"..by John Connolly...dark and twisted "fairy tale"...with a "surpise ending"..as Jackie's clues hinted about.

Gingey, I do like the sound of 'The Historian' very much and may have to investigate. Does this mean DH and DS may have to do some cooking?

I'm always extremely open to book and film suggestions, I can get too set in my ways and then miss a lot of very interesting things .

[QUOTE=*suzi*;11030451
I will probably get a thrashing for this one, but I absolutely hated the movie. It seemed like a B movie and Edward seemed like he had a constipated look on his face throughout. *ducking for cover* The second movie should be coming out soon, and I have heard the budget was a bit bigger. So, maybe we will all agree on that one.[/QUOTE]

I've just watched the film this afternoon, and I loved it! I don't care that it was a wee bit cheesy. Edward, constipated looking...? He was just full of angsty torturous longing coupled with super-vampire self-restraint! And I liked all the dankness and mists and the fact that it was all so low-key (and low budget I guess). I like my films raw and not too slick. I don't like slick.

The only thing was that I got slightly disorientated by some of the settings. For example, in my mind her bed would have been on the other side of the room, in fact the way her Dads whole house was seemed to be the reverse as how I saw it in the book . I wonder if it's because I'm left-handed? And also the Cullens house was not how I imagined it either. Could have done with more of the build-up to their romance and left the 'action' to the last quarter as in the book, but I guess adapting a book to a film means certain sacrifices, and on the whole it did remain pretty true to it.

He has 'fine eyes'. I was quite shocked by the Cullen's house.

The Brighton Festival is deadly. I came back today with a massive slice of 'healthy' carrot cake (£1) sold me by a jeweller who lives round the corner, a postcard (£3.50) based on a weird collage, and a dark green artisan made leather item (more costly) acquired while simply trying to sort out one of my belts.

Oh and I ate a very wicked chocolate brownie on route.
