Default That signature BE bag smell ...
There is no where else I could possibly ask a question like this and not be committed ...

Is it just me, or do the newer BE bags not have that intoxicating, lovely perfumed leather smell anymore?

The reason I ask, my first BE bag was from the newbie sale november 2008 - and it had that special smell (just to clarify, "smell" can make it sound bad, but I thought it rather pleasant).

Since then, I've bespoked a few bags, none of which have that smell; I've purchased a couple of Angel Purses and Protect Mes ... of which some have the smell, and some don't.

So, I guessed it was only in the stock bags, but my last bag from the most recent sale doesn't have the smell either ...

Feel free to let this thread die if I'm just being crazy. I just got to wondering about it again today.

My Aubergine MMS Midi from the Fall collection had that beautiful smell, so did my Turquoise Sheen Hold Me. My Pewter Angel Purse and Mottled Silver Clutch didn't but they are smaller bags. I noticed that my Dark Purple Adore Me does have a nice smell but you have to put your nose to the leather and breathe in, while all my other bags had that lovely smell as you opened the box.

My first BE has the strongest smell...and I agree I love it. I have used it the most, and it still smells devine...I got a whiff earlier this week searching my BE bags to find my black crash LMM...so yummy...but none of the others came with such a strong lovely smell...I designed my first bag on BEC right when it came out this spring...

My mottled gold TME from the recent sale has the strongest leather scent of all the bags I've owned which surprised me.

My Chocolate Matte TMA is my oldest BE bag and it still smells the best even though I bought it in January 2008. A few weeks ago, I took it out of the dustbag because I was thinking about using it again. I forgot about it for a few days and then walked into the spare bedroom where I left it sitting on a daybed. I could smell the bag as soon as I walked into the room. I can't believe it still does that after almost 2 years.

LOL I had a good laugh at this.... so true!

I recall my dark grey LM having that intoxicating smell and no recent additions can compare. Maybe we are all getting used to being surrounded by awesome leather and we can't smell it anymore.....like wearing the same perfume everyday.

Some smell more than others. I think the matte tan has a strong smell and the pebbled black and brown do too. The wine pebbled doesn't. The metallic gold I had didn't smell at all to me like leather! So odd!

I love the way my new HM smells. I don't have any other BE bags, but I'm assuming the smell varies from one leather and color to another. Back when I used to own RM bags, it was like that--they all had a nice leather smell, but slightly different depending on the color. To this day, I've yet to smell anything like my Elephant MAB--that alone was worth the bag. It hurt to sell that one...

The crash and glossy leathers smell different from the matte ones.

In my opinion, the matte leathers have THE best smell of all the BE leathers!!!!

I agree 100%! The matte leathers smell heavenly. I think the Black Pebbled I have smells really good as well.

My dark grey LM and my choc matte SM and IYT have the strongest BE perfume. Out of my 12 BE's those are the strongest. Oldies but goodies.

I totally agree. My pebbled glossy and sheen bags smell pretty good, but it's faint. My one matte BE bag is by far the smelliest...in a good way! I've had it since May and I still stick my head in there and take a good whiff every now and then. Heaven!

Whenever new bags from BE come in, I always take them to the bedroom. The scent will linger there a long time..allthough DH snorts and comments how it smells like a store. But I think it's an unique scent and love it!

Especially the mattes..ummmm..lol

I *LOVE* the way BE bags smell! To me, that's the best part.

I'm so glad I'm not the only was who was not noticing the smell as much it was in my first BE.
Having said that, in my new MMS mini, I've been using it for about a week now, and as it's softening, I've been noticing the smell a little bit more.
