I think everyone's price tolerance for various designer's is such an individualized matter. I"m glad to see we can all share our unique perspectives here. This thread always provides interesting insight!

I will say that I enjoy my BE's just like the next but I"m just purchasing on a much more selective basis these days and not just with my BE's. I've actually narrowed down my handbag collection quite nicely and wear only the bags that I truly enjoy on a regular basis.

I can justify more of an expense IF I wear it often. If not, then it goes!

I was shocked and horrified when someone on the Mulberry Forum posted a thread asking if we calculated the price of our bags on a per wear basis. I have now come round to that point of view. My Black Crash LM is doing very well in terms of price per wear value. I get it out to cheer me up every time it rains - including today! It is definitely down to far less than the cost of a meal out. It may well be less than the price of a paperback book and I think it will end up costing me less than a cup of coffee per day quite fast.

Jenova - I totally think that way about my clothes, jewelry and bags. If I will wear it every single day, I am willing to pay way more.

I do think about general cost per wear when I buy things. In this regard, my Black Crash TME Midi was probably the best value of all my BE bags. I got it on sale in October 2008, used it for 7 months in a row, and continue to take it out on rainy days. Since it will likely be my main bag every winter for many years, I'm sure the cost per wear will be less than $1.00 in just a few years.

^^^I have a black crash TME Midi too and wear it the same way. My taste constantly changes, but that is one bag that will stay with me forever because it's so perfect in the nasty Ohio inclement weather.

Based on the times per wear cost logic, I reckon my Dark Grey LM Midi must be practically free by now! I do so like this sort of logic, I think it'll work very well for me!

I also have a Dark Grey LM Midi. Although I paid more for that bag than any other bag I've ever had, it will be worth it over time since it is another favorite of mine that I plan to keep forever.

Hi Ladies,

I think at the end of the day I"ll always think that any handbag over 400-500 just is getting on the pricey side especially in today's economy. But, that's just MY price threshold and of course doesn't apply to everyone.

BUT, I happen to agree with the "dollar cost" average theory that's been proposed here. For instance, I've been wearing my taupe wtm everyday. That bag goes everywhere I do.

Also, whenever I travel I take along my weekender set. So, for certain BE pieces I sure do have a much easier time of justifying the expense.

I"m glad I've tried A LOT of different BE styles and had the opportunity to find out which ones work the BEST for me. That's what it's all about ladies. Finding what works and staying with it.

YES, I might find BE to be on the pricey side by my definition (I"m not singling out BE by any means I"m just talking in general to ANY handbag over x amount) BUT that sure doesn't mean I can't enjoy my BE's that I do decide to indulge in occasionally.

And as for compliments. Well, I don't receive those often on my BE's but you know what? That's OKAY. I LOVE the BE's I wear and that's what matters!

This is a great thread and very helpful to someone who has never seen a BE in person.
