I'm going to be no help at all because I wouldn't mind any of the colours you've mentioned.

Don't encourage me! Having been very surprised as to how my Orange Hold Me seems to go with everything, I'll stick my neck on the line and say that the dark purple would probably do the same - it's enough contrast to pop against black, grey or brown and would awesome against jeans imo. And it would compliment loads of other colours too. I reckon it could be regarded as a good, yet coloured neutral!

What colors do you think look best with? I"ll have to take a peek in my closet and see if I can make this work.

What I enjoy about pewter is I don't have to think about. I just know it will go with anything I'm wearing. I like that!

But, I"m looking now for something more muted for an everyday/carefree look!

Have I confused everyone yet?
LOL...can't help you here because I have the same battle going on in my brain! I suck at matching colors...I took a huge chance and went with something port to see how I do...I usually stay far away from this color family but I think this is the one perfect shade I can make work for me and I can't wait to get it now. Take a risk with me, lol! You'll probably end up loving color.

Lovebags - you know we are similar in that we both love to stick to the neutral bags, but I have to say that my recent purchases include one berry and one grape bag. I keep trying them on with different outfits, and I think they both go with just about everything. I think we need to stop being so "matchy" and let the color totally contrast from the colors we are wearing. For instance, I think I would wear my favorite Kelly green blouse with my grape bag.

I can't wait to wear my bags, but I'm sticking with the plan that I can only wear each one when I achieve my weight loss goals. I'm getting there!

Suzi - That's great advice!

Ladies, thank you everyone for all the support tonight. Okay, I"ve decided (I think) I"m going for the dark purple HM.

I carried my tan HM today to try and get back into the swing of enjoying this style. Here's what I think about the hold me in general and I"d love to hear more opinions:

I LOVE this bag for basically my "car" tote. It's so easy to just toss and go. For some strange reason I'm finding it actually easier to locate all my contents then my wtm's. I think because of the lack of drawstrings to fuss with and it's low width that it's a snap to find items in a hurry.

But, and here's my question (s). What does everyone think of the shape? Do you find it comfy when walking around with on your arm? Do you think it's a good style to wear in the winter with it being an open top?

I do enjoy this minimal style. It's a great reminder in life to just keep things simple and easy!

LOL, Okay you talked me into it. I"m probably going to order this bag tomorrow and take the chance. Let's do this together!

The orange hold me looks gorgeous.
I do love that color too. Oh dear don't get me thinking about orange instead of purple. LOL

Lovebags - I think the HM is wonderful in the winter. I love it's simple look. I think it's a fun look with jeans and so easy to wear by hand because it's so light. I would have no problem wearing it in the winter. Also, I like that all of my stuff is at the bottom of the bag. Some of the other open styles have a tendency to scare me in crowded areas because you can see the contents near the top.

I think the purple pebbled is very gorgeous and versatile. I think you would be surprised at how easy it is to coordinate. I love my HM and think this is the perfect style to showcase the leather.

Since you're already getting another style in port, I would choose between root and purple. I think purple might work better for your coloring and wardrobe, but make sure it's deep and not too bright, maybe get a sample first.

Thanks Citychris. I think you just might be right about my colors/complexion and purple. And I already know that purple looks great on me provided it's the right shade!

I've been struggling this week with the drawstrings on my wtm (they get in the way when I need to find say my wallet quickly) and I have to admit I really enjoyed my HM yesterday. Everything was SO easy to find. I just need to get more used to the different shape and only being able to wear on my arm. I suppose everything has it's trade off.

What the heck - life's too short and I do love purple!

Thanks everyone for the support. I don't know if I would've been brave enough to try without your advice!

P.S. I think Jackie has several colors of the HM in her collection so you know it's a goodie! When I first received my HM I thought this was a great style but would justify having it in only one color. Wrong. This is my 3'rd. LOL

I think it's a great bag to have in several colors! I want one in root as well just because I love brown bags and think it'd be great in a HM but this bag is just perfect for color! It's simple design allows for the color to be the star rather than a bunch of details stealing the show! I shy away from color quite often but this bag allows me to add color to my collection without feeling overwhelmed by it! And this purple is a very wearable purple! It's a nice deep true purple. If it weren't for my purple SPM and aubergine WTM I'd go for a HM in purple too!

THANK YOU!!!! Your review means a lot because you already have this color and not many PF members do (yet).

This PF is such a wonderful resource. I never would've entertained buying this bag sight unseen without everyone's input!

I needed this gentle nudge to break out more of my comfort zone.

Now, as for a root hold me. Why can't I stop thinking about that bag and how pretty it would look?

I LOVE brown and pink together!

I totally agree! I would love root with fuschia lining! The bespoke didn't seem to be going anywhere but I wonder if we could plead with Jackie to introduce it as a stock bag? LOL!

And you are very welcome! I would caution gals afraid of color if it were the medium purple matte as it is very saturated and not for the faint of heart though it is a beautiful color! The dark purple matte and dark purple pebbled luxe leathers though are deeper and easier to wear for those that are normally neutral bag wearing girls. I am often surprised at what these deeper, more jewel toned colors can go with! Jackie did a great job in selecting port, root and this dark purple! (And she's driving us all crazy in the process!)
