Default off topic but need the BE girls help
hi ladies

i have posted this in the general discussion forum but need some urgent advice! i work in London but want to send a gift basket tomorrow to someone in NYC to wish them luck in a new job. said person is a male - and therefore got stressed as am particulary useless singleton and picking things for men puts me in to trauma. so have order a basket from edible arrangements with in a baseball and added chocolate dipped strawberries and a good luck balloon. the recipitent is a health freak so i thought fruit was nicer - but has anyone used this company? is this nice? is this an ok thing to do? thought it would be eyecatching and something to share with colleagues

girls any advice and reassurance much appreciated!!!!!!!

ps anyone know how big these things are - went for the large arrangement so how much do you get for $100

I think that's sweet (literally and figuratively) - really creative and I'm sure he will enjoy it! $100 sounds like a nicely sized one too; I don't think you want these things too huge LOL! The size probably depends on the types of fruits they use - the more exotic, the more expensive. Here's a link to one of the sites I have used before. My friend really liked it!

You can also make these things for kid parties and as hostess gifts....I used to have instructions on making an antipasti arrangement using green onions over skewers for stems and flowers made with olives, cornichons, and salamis....LOL!

thanks for reassuring me!!!

its hard to judge what size they are. i chose the bigger baseball one with a good luck balloon

i hope this brightens up the office a bit tomorrow and will be something you can share. why are men friends/colleagues so hard to pick a gift for??

and I really dont think i could make one. i am totally a marks and spencers food hall kind of girl!!!!!

i am totally crossing my fingers it arrives safely tomorrow as i ordered it about an hour ago and tomorrow is the last day he is at that job

That's actually a great idea. I have a colleague that is leaving his job and he lives multiple states away. Maybe I can get something similar for him. I want to make sure it's appropriate since he has a wife and kids. I'm going to go check it out!

EDIT: I just looked them up and I think it's perfect to send to my friend! Thanks for the idea!

its good isnt it for a male friend? i picked a baseball container. some of the flowerpots and watering cans looked a bit too girly. i will let you know how it goes down tomorrow. i think its going to be a surprise and hopefully a BIGish surprise for the money!

i am a bit sad they dont do these in London!!! they are CUTE!

btw started this thread in a rush over on general discussion and someone else recommended this company without me saying what i had ordered so hopefully they are good. I just got an invoice which told me which NYC shop was handling my order and phoned them to double check they would defintely deliver during office hours AM ( i was a bit worried it was a holiday weekend for y'all)

Make sure you let us know how he liked it! I just sent an email to my colleague asking what his favorite sport is. He will probably think I'm weird, but I want to pick the right ball...

I'm excited now! (on top of being incredibly depressed that he's leaving the company.) I wasn't sure what to do and I think he will totally appreciate this.

I'd sent them to clients for ages and they raved about them and I finally tasted one last Christmas - they are really, really good! They come in a zillion flavors and you can get boxes that have the half size ones too (I recommend those - they are really rich).

ARGH! Just tried to order one for my friend and they don't deliver to his city! I am not much for the berries...anyone have other suggestions along the same lines? Hope I'm not hijacking the thread too much here...

www.harryanddavid.com - they have really good stuff too and it's healthy (for the most part). www.cookiesbydesign.com does cool cookie bouquets and Mrs. Fields does online ordering too and they are good.

No worries, I too have used edible arrangements several times, most of them for corporate gifts - never had one that fell through. Every single recipient loved what they got. The strawberries dipped in chocolate were the bomb!!

This was a total success. He says he loved it and was really surprised and thought the baseball container was a neat touch.

Would highly recommend this for a gift for male friend/colleague.

Thanks everyone for helping me out!!!
