Hi ladies,
I have taken the bold decision to pare my handbag collection to FIVE bags. Yes, you heard it here, 5 bags. So...what will make the cut? Watch this space as I pare down and purchase. And probably even change my mind! 1. Belen Echandia TME Midi Black pebbled. (The must have classic slouchy shoulder bag) 2. Belen Echandia Clutch Me Black crash. Because every woman should own a black clutch. 3. LV Neverfull. The light as a feather tote bag. 4. LV Speedy Cassis. Hand carry "ladies who lunch bag." Do not own this bag yet. 5. Watch this space. Need something light, for summer. This gives me a shoulder bag, a clutch, a hand carry, a tote bag. Now, do I need a hobo in here...? heh heh heh ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Nice job streamlining your collection! I have also been cutting back to the essentials - more love for each bag then, right?
I love your choice of Speedy - I'm currently trying to decide between ivory or Damier in 30 for my next "staple" purchase. I do think there's room for a hobo in there... or maybe something like a Charm Me or a Mulberry Bayswater? (for the "zip closure shoulder carry" category) Definitely keep us updated! :) |

WOW ... I'm impressed! I think I have way too many bags, but when I try to think of paring it down to a more manageable level, I don't think I could decide! I really do love them all.
Can't wait to see what you decide will be your "perfect five". BTW ... I have the Damier Speedy 30 and I think it's an essential bag. For days when it's pouring rain ... it's the perfect rainy day bag and that bag has never shown ANY wear. I think it could withstand nearly anything! |

Hi TropicalGal! I have done the same. Sold some of my favs on eBay and Bonanzle; I was sad for a few I let go, but now I do feel lighter.
Go for the cassis LV - I have this color in the Alma and just love it. It is actually quite neutral too. Oh...and definitely get a hobo (wink)! Happy paring and purchasing

I think your choice of LV Cassis is an excellent one. I have the Passy in this color and it's my go-to business travel bag - the style is classic but the color keeps it from being boring.
You might consider a smallish messenger bag too? |

Pixie -- have that covered...twice. Black Antony (Mulberry) (which I might sell) and an LV...sort of tiny camera bag, can't remember the name...wonderful in mini LV. Just lovely!

TG - I'm not really a hobo bag girl, but it does seem to be the area where you are lacking. I think you have a lovely collection picked out so far. For me, the black crash would definitely be on the list. I'm going to go look up your LV bags. I do like the Azur Damier Speedy, but I think I might see what's on sale with BE.

I love the Cassis speedy TG. Great choice!
I think you have all your bases covered actually. |

TG - I just wanted to let you know that I think owning 5 great handbags is just a wonderful idea. You have my full support on this adventure as you'll find I"m trying to do much of the same myself. I haven't provided an actual number goal yet for myself (under 10 handbags - that much I know) but perhaps I should to make it more "real".
I"ve sold SO many of my handbags this year and it feels GREAT. Very liberating experience. Now I just own the bags I truly love and wear often. I do have a rule I like to follow: if a handbag hasn't been worn in the past 3 months then I sell it. I don't think about or analyze the decision I just sell the bag since there must be a reason why it hasn't been worn. Who knows the reason but it's there! And thanks TG for setting a fine example for many of us on the PF!

TG,
You go girl! This sounds like a quest that will be liberating and a bit challenging. For me, the trick is balancing my love for hanbags with my desire for simplicity. I only have a few but it is a challenge to keep that number small. Spending less time on tpf helps, but I enjoy the ladies and the conversations. I look forward to hearing what you decide! |

I did this as well not 5 but 6 perfect bags and have not bought a bag since I made the choice/decision to do this. I look all the time and get great pleasure from everyone elses purchases and all the excitement. I also get great enjoyment when I wear one of my 6 perfect bags.

TG - I finally got around to looking up the LV Cassis. I didn't even realize that meant it was purple! It's a beautiful bag, and I think it's great to keep a bit of color in your collection.
