It could just be the heat softening the finish a bit making it more vulnerable to abrasion. My strap was rubbing against a very hot shoulder. Had your AP gone to a warmer land?

If anyone has a Pewter Crash swatch they could run some experiments on it using sun tan lotion, a hairdryer and a domestic iron (through paper). I am not that keen to attack my own strap, even if I do have another one.

CB & Jenova - Sorry to hear about this. I'd alert Jackie of this situation. For the price point of BE there shouldn't be such fast wear IMO on any of the leathers. I"m sure Jackie will try her best to resolve all this but she just needs to know. ![]() I think I recall TG having issues with her pewter crash AP. Maybe she could chime in on how that resolved? In any event, I think I"m going to "treat" all my BE's going forward so I don't worry. I know I"ll LOVE my pewter AP and want to enjoy it for years!!!!! |

It's a shame your not going to use your pewter until cooler days. I'm sorry to hear this. I wish you could enjoy your spm over the summer..... |

This is for Jenova and Pradameinhofgang...a small pic of some bag hangers I found over the net (I don't have one so I don't have any personal pics). I hope this helps!
Regarding corner wear, my Hold Me in Plum Crash started showing wear right away (on its corners) but it seems as though it reaches a point where it stops and then stays the same regardless of how much it is used. I am normally quite careful with my bags so the corner wear upset me a bit, but the Plum Crash is so beautiful that I just don't bother looking at the corners anymore and just enjoy using it! *Jenova, Im sorry to hear about the pewter bag strap, that doesn't look "normal" to me--maybe you should ask Jackie about it? |

I adore your bag hangers - they are so cute! Thanks for the pic - I understand how they are used now. I am not going to contact Jackie about the Pewter Crash at the moment moment because, as I mentioned, I have a spare Pewter strap so I don't really need her to do anything for me. I will just be a little cautious about when I use my bag until I see what happens next (hopefully nothing if I avoid the heat). I just wanted to alert other people on tpf so they can also be a bit careful with their Pewter bags in hot weather if they think fit. |

I've been using my pewter AP every single day since it arrived last August. Of course it has wear on the corners.......I didn't expect it NOT to.
Having said that, I love it and continue to use it. I haven't treated it with any products, nor do I plan to. Once it's worn to the ground, I'll get another one. I will say however, for those wanting a pewter AP to use in their purse, I'd recommend a matte or pebbled glossy luxe leather if you're looking to avoid corner wear and longevity is important to you. It all comes down to being careful and your attitude really. If a scuff here or there is going to bother you, then perhaps leather bags aren't your bag baby! |

Seems that you guys are having a problem with the type of color-"crash" from what I have seen is a metallic sheen-metallics are notoriously easily damaged colors. So maybe "crash" colors need to be treated with something to prevent this from happenning. I am sure Jackie and Rose would appeciate you providing them with this feedback as it will help them to improve their product.
IMHO

Those black vertical lines are not scuffs. The metallic surface has completely worn off the leather at the pressure points on the strap pad between Tuesday pm and Thursday pm in the first week of use when only carrying the bag in the afternoons. The damage is clearly related to heat, sweat or the use of sun protection lotion, which is why I have posted a warning. I do not believe that anyone would be happy to find such damage on the main body of their bag. I hope that my posting about this will help them to avoid it. |

That's good to know - I can deal with lots of small scuffs on my bag, but have massive issues with large scuffs and the wear/peeling that has occurred on your strap padding would make that unusable for me (even though noone could see it but me).

oh wow, the wear does look quite scary to me, luckily it's on the underside of the shoulder pad! so crash leathers and conditioners/sunblock lotions are definitely a no-no |

I'm referring to my AP directly and corner wear.....and wear in general of leather bags. That's all. I think it's excellent you posted a warning about the heat/sunscreen.........a great warning for all of us. |
