Question Brand new bag, crystal falls off, need help deciding between crystals & studs
I know this has happened to others, though I didn't expect it to happen to my bag so soon after I bought it. A crystal fell off the very first time I used the bag, which was for a simple quick trip to the store to pick something up (one hour of use tops).

I contacted Jackie, and she explained BE is still having issues with the crystals and offered new tags, giving me the option of crystals or studs. I wrote back asking for a description or photo of the tags with plain studs before I decide kuz I haven't seen them. Are they flat or raised like the studs with crystals?

I haven't heard back yet, so I figured I might as well ask the experts for opinions since this is my first BE (Dark Grey Glossy HM). But the crystal...

Given the color of my bag and the fuchsia lining, I thought crystals would look better, but at the same time I don't want to be paranoid about them falling again.

What do you think? TIA!

Sorry that your crystal fell out on your bags first outing karmenzsofia - bummer.

I haven't experienced the new studs but I know some other ladies have and hopefully be able to help.

I know there's been quite a few lost crystals, luckily I haven't had it happen yet (touch wood). I paint mine with clear nail varnish or nail top coat, but I know that some ladies have lost theirs even though they've done this too. I think BE recently improved the metal holding of the crystals but from the sounds of it, this hasn't really improved things.

But I love the pink crystals!! They just make me happy and seem almost iconic! So I'd always go for them every time regardless!!

Thanks for your opinion, CB.

I'm trying to figure out what these metal studs look like, so I'm hoping someone here knows. I'm also wondering if replacing crystals with studs would lower the perceived value of the bag. This bag is a keeper for me, but what if I was forced to sell it to raise money for something I need? Would the tags with studs lower the resale value of the bag?

Ooohhh...so sorry to hear that...I have used my SMM for like a solid month or more, and did nothing to the tag, and the crystals are fine...my Love Me Mini also has been fine...

I hope you figure it out...but I agree...I kind of like the crystals...

I haven't seen a close up of the new tags, so I'm not really sure how they look. I would probably be open to the idea even though I do love the crystals.

I just use the clear nail polish on my tags and they have been fine. Although, they were constantly falling out prior to discovering the nail polish.

I'd do the crystals and nail polish, like some ladies here have suggested. With grey glossy, I don't think the studs would look as good as the crystal - it would be a different story if you had a bright colored bag.

One of my crystals fell out and I have yet to ask Jackie for another set of tags, but when I do, I'm asking for the crystal tags! They're just so much prettier than studs. I think I saw a picture of tags w/studs on the website...under BEC Features. :)

I've lost crystals on every BE bag I've ever had. But I don't care...because I don't use the tags on the handbags. I use the tags on my luggage, as luggage tags.

Not me...I love the tags...I love anything hanging off the bag. I've looked all over the website and haven't seen a single bag with the studs.

I'm sorry to hear about your tags. I love the crystals though I almost always take the tags off as soon as the bag arrives (I like to keep them together and play with them sometimes They make a cool rattle...).
Someone posted a picture of the tag with the studs a while back. Unfortunately I cannot remember under which thread and my search pulled up nothing. I personally prefer the crystals though and would use the nail polish trick.

I have never had a problem with my crystal tags either but ou would think that BE would do something about the problem. It is quite annoying having to keep requesting new tags when a crystal falls out.

I agree! I guess that's why they came up with the studded tags, but it would be nice if there was a way to make them stay. I wonder if crystal just doesn't stick well? I have a Coach peace sign key chain with a whole bunch of clear crystals and every single one is gone. I'm guessing it would probably need prongs or something to hold the crystal in?

I'm just like TG where I don't use my crystal'sl so it doesn't effect me BUT I still agree with your post. I hope BE takes the time to address this issue for their customer's once and for all! It looks much better IMO if they do that for the price your paying for these bags. Just my opinion.

I've never had crystals fallen out, although the new crystals look far less secure than the old ones, in that the fixture no longer clasps the crystal in place. I wondered before whether the reasons my crystals stay in place was because I only have one tag hanging on the outside - the tags don't spend all day banging together, particularly as walk everywhere. Was it the crystal on the rear tag that fell out?

Yes, my friend, you're right--it's the one in the back.

FYI: The crystals on the tags I have are flat against the metal studs, that is, they don't stick out. But I think whoever makes them glues them on top instead of--just an idea--inserting them from the bottom up into studs, whose top openings could be slightly smaller than the diameter of the crystals, so that they can't fall. Wouldn't that work?

Here's a photo of the tags the day I received the bag:
