Karmen...the clear nail polish trick works, but I have always used Bond 527. It's a mulit-purpose cement that is clear. I do vintage costume jewelery repair and it's used commonly.

Also I purchased a wine glossy IYT second hand that had a crystal missing. I paired the fuschia one (still intact)nwith a grogeous vintage red rhinestone for the missing crystal on the second tag, and it looks FAB.

I wish Jackie would offer different colored crystals.

Thankz for pointing that out. That was my concern and why I didn't put it on the second crystal. Lesson learned.

It's OK; thankfully I'm getting new tags, and those I will protect with the nail polish and/or glue.

I have the same problem with my cystal getting lost. For those who got replacement tags, did you have to pay anything for them?

good idea to use them as luggage tags..........when the airline loses my suitcase, they might send it to BE (kidding:-)

I did not pay for replacement tags, it took a while, but it was free :-)

Yup, Jackie offers one replacement free or charge; after that you're on your own. That's why they're recommending the stud-only tags.

So I found this old necklace with crystals...not the nicest...and decided to glue them to the studs while I wait for my new tags to be made and shipped. The crystals were smaller than the empty spaces in the studs, which I flooded with glue, so the crystals drowned in it and I had to scratch the glue residue off the top, which somewhat ruined the crystals. I know. I messed up, but I just didn't want these to fall off, too, so I thought I should drown them.

Anyway...so this is what they look like--not good but better than the empty studs.

Thanks, grlz!

The crystals were way more reflective until I covered them with glue, which made them dull. So I had to use a blade--yes, a freaking blade--to scratch the glue off (some of it, as I couldn't get it all off) each crystal's surface so that at least some part of the crystal showed through the pool of glue. The glue film is more obvious in photos #2 and #3.

Yeah, these will hold me over--or should I say, "hug" me over--until I get the new tags.

Great idea, trial and error with the glue I guess.

Karmen - your new 'crystals' look so much classier than the original pink ones - you should keep using them.

Your DIY replacement crystals looks awesome, karmenzsofia. Of course, you're bound to be more critical of the effect, but I don't think anyone else is going to be looking that closely.
