tl, bonnie: I'm amazed to hear that you have none missing when you don't even "baby" your bags given how soon one of mine fell...yet...I shouldn't be amazed kuz as lovebags2 said this shouldn't be happening to any of the bags (with a rare exception, I suppose) to begin with.

cindy: Hi! Long time, no see. It's good to see you!

sgreg, tl: How do you turn them back to back? I see a small, round stud that attaches the strip of leather that goes in and out the rings on the tags back to the strip a bit above the tags--is that something you can pry open and close again?

ETA: I almost forgot! I've decided to get new tags with the crystals, and I'm going to try the nail polish on them. Thank you all for your opinions and info.
Exactly - rare exceptions I'm fine with but I"ve lost count on how many times my crystals have fallen off. And to be honest, most had fallen somewhere in my home without even being worn. In any event, I'm delighted to try the nail polish remedy. I hope we both have great luck with this solution. Contessa's right, these are pretty and can bring a smile!

For my bags, all the metal rings attached to the tags can open and shut - there is a hinge on the metal ring that you can press to open it inwards. Best of luck!

Hi, Karmen! When I say back to back, I mean I removed one of the 2 tags and turned it around so that the backs of the tags are now facing one another rather than the 2 tags facing the same way on the ring they are attached to. Does that make sense? I didn't alter the tag, just turned one around on the ring so the crystal isn't bumping into the tag in front of it. Of course, this is on a ring with 2 tags, not the single BEC threaded tag.

ETA: Yes, as sgreg said, the tags should be attached to a ring that has a hinge that opens and allows you to remove the tags.

sgreg, tl: I don't think I can do that with my tags. The metal rings are inside the leather tags (see green arrow), so they don't open or close and can't be turned around unless they are removed from the leather strip that wraps around the bag's handle. The end of that strip of leather goes through the rings and is attached to the strip just above the tags with a round metal stud (see pink arrow). Is that stud a button of some kind that can be snapped open and reclosed? Gosh, I don't know how to explain any of this...I hope the photo helps.

^^ Yes, quite right, karmenzsofia - the tags for your bag cannot be removed and "turned around". On some styles, like the Love Me, Charm Me and maybe other styles that have a drawstring, the tags come on a spring hinged ring and so could be removed.

Hoping that your replacement tags arrive quickly and give you no more grief.

Thanks for clarifying that, bluefish. I told Jackie I prefer replacement tags with crystals kuz I haven't seen the others, so I hope I'll have the new ones very soon.

So I used the bag to meet a friend for lunch at the mall, and as we're walking back to the car I notice the second crystal is gone. WT--?

I'm left wondering why something that has been such a common problem for however long these bags have been around hasn't been fixed. Let's face it: this is the kind of situation that can affect how a brand is perceived. I think BE needs to fix this issue a.s.a.p.

You have a bad run of luck with those tags karmenzsofia.

BE did introduce a slightly different setting to try to address the problem - the metal was slightly marked and pinched in (looked a bit like a little metal rose). I think I might have this on one of my bags, maybe the orange Hold Me? The crystals seemed to sit even higher than before. I don't think I've given the nail varnish treatment to that one and to date I've still got them...

But imo for what it's worth, when you get your new tags I'd give them a once over with clear nail polish just in case. I usually do it quickly in what can only be described as a Union Jack pattern and just the once. I once used too much and it settled in around the crystal and looked a bit flakey.

I agree with you though, shouldn't happen in the first place. I haven't heard here about whether the consensus is that the new settings have solved the problem - it would be good to know.

I'm not surprised I've had a bad run of luck with the crystals..."lucky" is not a word anyone I know would use to describe me

Ironically, after I read about the clear nail polish, I almost used it on the remaining crystal. But right when I was about to brush it on, I changed my mind--I didn't want to "ruin" it somehow and regret it later. Well, now I regret not doing it. Oh well...

I'll get the replacement tags soon and will either put a coat of clear nail polish on and/or glue around the edges. I'll drill them on if I have to

You should as I'm certain you'd be offered an extra set of tags.

Do you still have the bag?

Yes, Jackie has been very helpful. At first I thought I would get new crystals to glue on the studs, but she immediately offered a new set of tags.

I"m glad it's working out for you!

I think you can learn a lot about the company based on these small details and how much thought/care they place into for their customer's.

I'm off today to buy clear nail polish! Okay, I"m sensing a daughter/mother manicure night ladies. I might as well have fun with my clear nail polish. hehe

Karmenzsofia - If it helps, I can not tell that there is clear nail polish on mine. It looks exactly the same.

Lovebags - a mother/daughter manicure sounds like fun.
