^^^I really like the sound of this!! It almost makes me wish I had some dirty oily handles to try it on, but I don't at the minute!

I am sitting here looking at my choc matte Take Me Away Mini (Overnighter), priming myself to give it a good moisturising and conditioning. It's been stored away since last year and it needs some tlc, especially having been shoved under an airplane seat. I will tackle it tomorrow.

Care of Chloe Leather
It sounds interesting Jenova, but any food grade products can soak into a bag and turn rancid. Also, since milk has lactic acid in it (a natural exfoliant) I wouldn't use it on my bags, as I would think that it would weaken fibers - especially the stitching. Whole milk mixed with a few drops of honey as a mask is really good for your skin though .

I have eventually got round to doing my choc matte Overnighter (Take Me Away Mini) which had got a bit scuffed.

Here are the before pics (light wasn't great).

And here are the after pics (3rd one - mark is still there although not as bad, ignore the crease, it's the slight mark in front of that). The rest of the scuffs disappeared, however the leather does look slightly darker. But I'm pleased!

Looks great. Let us know if it lightens up again after a few days will you?

A Little Warning

I used my Pewter Crash Surprise Me in the recent 'heatwave' in the UK (which does not compare to the normal hot weather in many other countries).

I was wearing 8-hour sun protection lotion on my shoulders and . The shoulder pad on the strap had formed a series of little creases where it bent inwards in a concave curve over my shoulder. On only the 3rd day of use, the surface of the little ridges created by the creases had worn through to the darker leather under the metallic finish.

This is not a problem for me. The wear has occurred inside the shoulder pad, so doesn't show, and I have another unused Pewter messenger strap that I bought for my Hug Me anyway. However, I will be careful about other areas of my Pewter bags rubbing against my hot flesh in future.

It is just a little warning of what could happen to that finish in hot weather.

^^^ Did you all decide it was the acid in your skin and in the suntan lotion? It's good to know, because I am going on vacation this week.

I have a little helpful tip for the matte tan. I used those Method wipes from Target on the dirty corners of my Hold Me. I wanted to try it on that bag, since I will be getting another tan bag next week. At first, the marks looked darker and I panicked! However, once the bag was dry, I was so happy to find there was no dirt. I would definitely test an unseen area before trying it, but I am sooo excited by the results!

Huge thumbs up for those wipes!

Hi all!
I'm so excited, I picked up a BE (my first) for a (relative) song. I love it, but there's slightly more cracking / damage to the leather than the seller disclosed. It's a dark gray glossy, btw. So... before I raise the issue, should I try to treat it? Moisturize it and see what happens? What's the general consensus on glossy leather? What is it supposed to look like after "only four months of use" (what the seller said>)

Thanks,

I think you should try this question in the main forum or check out the reference library to ask someone who owns a grey glossy. I'm not that familiar with that type of leather. I just wonder if it is a characteristic of the leather when it breaks in? I know the black crash seems to take on a sort of crackly type look.

Hi, I think this leather is just this way. As it breaks in, it gets slouchy (at least my bag has), but the cracks become more pronounced. With the glaze, I don't think even think that moisture would help. I don't know if it would even penetrate the leather, to be honest.

Here is a side shot of my bag- you can see more crackling and what not. When it was brand new, it was a bit smoother. I think the leather crackles as it breaks in.

Have just discovered Clarks Premium Leather Cream and it's worked a treat on my Petrol IY Tote .

On the tube it says it's for 'smooth, reptile, patent and metallic leather'.

^ is that from the shoe company?

I used Wilson's leather lotion on my Indulge Me, but was wondering if there was something else for future use (Wilson's almost gone). I don't want to spend $20 plus on products though.

Yes, it's from the shoe company. Think the tube cost around £7.25 (approx. $12)
