Ladies (and gentlemen?):
I need your help. I am deciding whether or not to buy my 1st balenciaga black city bag. I have been debating this for a year or two now. I live in Toronto where it sells for $1525 (before tax at Holt Renfrew) and just drool over it everytime I see it (i think that the sales people think that i'm slightly crazy....). Is it worth the cost of a mortgage payment? I'm struggling with this because I have two kids (one just 7 months) and feel like i need to treat myself. I have a wonderful life but feel like this bag could make my life just a little bit more awesome. Am I nuts? Should I splurge? Please offer your advice. FYI- I do own some designer bags- gucci, coach, LV- but i'm really debating the price of the bag..... Thanks. Jade |

Actually I'm going to say no because once you start it may be hard to stop. It is like a drug. Might as well not start in the first place and save yourself the heartache of always needing "just one more" to be "balcontent."

For some people, it does take some time to get use to Bal for their vintage looking and unique leather. Bbag is very addictive also pricey. It is also very different from Gucci, LV and Coach since it has no logo. If you have seen and touched them IRL, and feel it will make you be happy for a long time, then go for it!

between Gucci, Coach & LV.... I'll opt for BB !!! It's my 1st buy and I'm already in love with the colours & fitting of the bag !!! I'm already fantasizing on my next buy... so.... do consider carefully I agree with ehc2010... it's a drug... do not start or u won't stop... but if u do start it's a good choice unless u can't stand the destress leather... GL to your final choice !!

I agree the other posters--yes, yes, yes, but be warned, because once you have one Bal, you'll want a bunch more! BBs are great--beautiful, comfortable, durable, and timeless. Though BBs are pricey, a black city is a bag you'll have forever! It's also something that will get a ton of use, so my vote would be to splurge and treat yourself!

BBags are really really really addictive. You'll always want more, a diff. color, a diff style, a diff hardware, etc., thus I conclude that you should get that black city
![]() However, only do it if you have the ability to buy it, instead of buying it and struggling to pay your other bills. |

Do I think you are nuts for thinking a Bbag can make your wonderful life "just a little bit more awesome"? NO!
![]() Should you splurge? Yes, yes and yes! A black City is a bag you can have for a long time and if you've thought about this bag for more than a year then I don't think you will regret it. Of course as others have already mentioned; Bbags are really, really addictive so be warned. |

i'm from toronto too, and the selection of black citys at holts isn't that good, the leather is rather dry and veiny. at least that was what i saw at the yorkdale location.
but go for it, it's a good starter bag! you should treat yourself a mommy pressie!

So I have been in almost the exact same situation as you (minus the new baby) - going over to Holts to drool over the Bal, talking to the sales lady, debating about the price, lurking on TPF to look at all the beautiful pictures, etc. And, feeling a bit of being in a rut recently, I also figured that actually buying it would make my life a bit more awesome.
I bought my raisin city just the week before last week. Finally biting the bullet. And here are my thoughts - I love the raisin.. every time I see it, it makes me swoon. I "secretly" cuddle with it at work after looking around to make sure that nobody is watching, I love touching the leather, smelling the bag (okay, this might be too much information now..) and I feel stylish and fabulous when I wear it. :) So in a way, I think it did/does add some awesomeness to my life. But I also feel a bit obsessive and disappointed. After drooling over buying a Bal for a year, and imagining myself buying it... now that I have it, I find that I miss the fantasy part of it a little. In the first week, I was also obsessive wondering whether my bag had the "good leather" that everyone is talking about, whether I was going to scratch it with my nails, and where I should put it when I go out to eat (not on the floor!!), etc. So, in conclusion - I think the bag is awesome and I love it. I don't regret buying it at all. It is beautiful and functional and so nice smelling.. If you've been thinking about it for that long, chances are that you are going to buy it at some point anyways. Might as well do it now before the prices go higher? Just keep in mind that the "high" will wear off probably in about 2 weeks and it won't actually change anything in your life (well, except you'll now possess a fabulous bag!), and that it may add a level of maintenance to your daily routine if you're a bit obsessive like me. :) tree |

I bought 3 different Le Dix bags from Luxury Brands Italy and love them. I think they were defects but I still love them defects and all! There is no other bag like a Bal...get it now before the prices keep going up.

I think you should definitely invest in a Bal! Though I agree that Bal is addictive but I feel there should be at least one bbag in every ladies' closet. If you are concerned about it being pricey (which I totally agree) why not invest in a color that you will not regret and will get maximum usage out of it? Black is a great choice, timeless and chic, but maybe you can also consider blues and browns to brighten up your outfits :)

I am in Canada too, you might want to wait for the 25% off deal and get your black city. Or you can buy from Erica at HGBags, that's where I buy most of my bags. She sells only authentic Bbags and she is SUPER nice!
