Hey gals (and guys )

Got the Vert Thym City this morning... and the cotton material on the zipper pulls is almost neon green as well as the color on the side of the tassels. What's up with that

Is this what all Vert Thym's look like? The leather on this one is pretty horrid too - very glossy, stiff and plastic-y. Do you think if I find one with better leather than it'll look better overall This is suppose to be for my Mom , so I'm a little "" right now LOL. I don't know whether to exchange it for another - or to just take the store credit & let my Mom have my black RH city.


btw, I have pics, but I need to leave for class right now - so I don't have time to upload till after class.

Mine came to me not overly glossy, no neon green anywhere(zipper tape or side of tassles). I'm off to bed now but I'll come back to this thread to check your pictures.

Awwwwww........I´m sorry to hear that.....such a lovely gesture getting it for your mum......I´d return it if I were you, and not happy with it. Good luck!!

Verty, frankly your description leaves me with many , so I'll wait for your pics... !
However, I don't know about you giving up your black City, isn't it a good staple that you'll miss? Perhaps returning the VT for another, or even store credit is best. Plus, I know you want a black First, so maybe that's an option too?

Yes I do! I also wouldn't mind a White City ...so that is another option. My Mom just always tells me how she loves my Sandstone & Black... but is even more partial to the Black City, so I feel like she'd be happiest with that

Are you quite sure this is 08 Vert Thyme? 07 Vert Foret bags tend to have brighter green zip tapes and stiff leather. Just a thought.

Ok, perhaps "neon" wasn't the best word It's more like "Vert GAZON-ish" zipper pulls and tassels.

Also, I promise I'm not usually this much of a baby. It's just that I wanted it to be extra PERFECT b/c it's for my Mom But it is a beautiful color , I think I'll return it for one with better leather.

The pics don't convey the 'gazon-ish' at all... lol, but it was the best I could do. The last pic is from another tPF-er... and it's what I want my Vert Thym to look like

I think the VT you received is fabulous, judging from the pics, but hey, if you're not 101% happy with it, return it!
A comment on the tassels: I understand what you don't like about them, but I've seen it again on bbags. For example, almost all of the 05 magenta bags have tassels that are white on the sides. Not even a paler pink, but WHITE!
So, are you getting another VT, a black First or something else? Let us know!

add: About the zipper tape... In the pics it matches the color of the leather perfectly... I haven't seen any VT bags irl so I don't know how they look, is it that different?

Definitely Vert Thyme. My bag looks more like your bag than the other one, which looks a bit too blue in the photo to me. I don't think the zipper fabric looks at all wrong for the bag. I don't know about your Mom but I adore my bag. I think the colour is terribly subtle and wearable. Of my 08 bags, I prefer it to my Electric Blue and think it will be one of the bags that I keep long-term.

danae - i sent my Mom pictures, i will see what she says. i guess i will either return it for one w/better leather, a different color overall or a store credit. if she decides to take my black city i will either exchange it for one w/better leather or get a white city

jenova - yeah, the color is gorgeous - very pretty, but neutral. if i could get one with leather like yours (and the other i posted) then i would be much happier d you have pics of yours?

Verty, the leather here looks pretty darn good!! But you must be completely in love with the bag and leather- if this doesn't do it for you (and your mom) then don't keep it!

Still, yours looks much better than the ones I've seen IRL. I'm just not thrilled with spring 08- I've only seen sky blue, vert, and bubblegum IRL, and all had super stiff,super shiny leather that looked like plastic! However, i've seen much nicer versions of these colors on this forum, thank goodness!!

verty, maybe you should send them a picture of the other VT and see if they can find you one with that leather? if you're not happy you should definitely not settle! it's a beautiful color though. :)

oooh don't taunt me with it's butt, sunny. i know, the distressing is amazing in that photo. argh, maybe i should keep it it's not as soft as any of my other bbags, but it is smooshy - so maybe it'll break in? i've only seen sky blue, BG, EB and magenta IRL - and they all have very, very stiff leather except for EB. maybe this was the best VT balny had?

pluiee - yeah that is a good idea... now i dont know if i should keep the one i have. i just hate the shine LOL, but i guess the shine will wear off soon enough....

oh verty, i'm sorry this happened to you! i know how frustrating it must be to get all excited and then disappointed. maybe your mom will love it anyway?? it is also possible that this is the best leather they had. sending good leather vibes to you! call them and see what they can do about it. do send the photo in!
