Dilemma: Black First GGH, Amethyst City, or wait to find an 05 Magenta city? long!

I've wanted a black Balenciaga bag for several years, but could never justify the cost since I already own some great black vintage bags. Then I came across a picture of Nicole Ritchie carrying the 05 magenta I fell in love immediately and kept searching for it. I keep just missing a great auction for the bag or it is in terrible condition for the price they are asking.

Then in Paris I came across the Amethyst(which looked so vibrant and glowy next to all the other colors they had), and I couldn't pull the trigger because I still have the 05 Magenta in the back of my mind. I wish I could see both in person to compare, and to make sure I won't keep lusting for the 05 Magenta, a bag I've only seen in pictures!

Which brings me back to buying a Black First with the giant gold hardware. When I went to Hermes to look at the Collier de Chien bracelet I loved the black one with gold studs, but again I couldn't pull the trigger. With the economy the way it is and people starving, it is making me feel guility about spending that much money on a leather bracelet.(this is just for me! I fully encourage anyone with the money to do so to buy what they love

)

Anyways, the black First GGH reminds me so much of the bracelet(luxe but tough at the same time), and I feel like I'm getting a better deal with the bag. It is something I could carry all the time and I know would go with most of my wardrobe. Gah, this has gotten so complicated. Any thoughts or reflections?

Bal First doesn't come with GH, only RH. Will this "un-interest" you?

In regards of 05 Magenta or 08 Amethyst, 05 Magenta is so rare. If you are looking for a new/mint condition, it probably will cost a fortune. Many tPFers reported 08 Amethyst is very close to 05 Magenta. You may consider to spend a reasonable amount to get a brand new bag instead of chasing an old and expensive bag. This is just my humble opinion.

GAH! Well problem solved lol. I liked that the first is small enough to take out at night without being a pain, but I love the look of the giant hardware against the black. Thanks so much for your input!

The Amethyst is beautiful and in my mind the closest Bal has gotten to recreating the 05 Magenta. Here's a thread with lots of pictures to compare the different magenta colors: Here is the Amethyst - pics

If you search around the forum you might find other information as well.

But I'm confused about your desire for a GGH black first. Bal does not make the first with giant hardware. Do you mean the City? Black with the gold hardware is a lovely combination (I have it in the part time style) and it's very classy.

Black is always a good choice, but amethyst is lovely! Let us know what you decide and if and when you get a bag, make sure to post it!

Why not a City with GH? I love my Pine City GSH and she is a going-out bag for me. I use my big black Work during the day but City is perfect for going out in NY (and for when you need to carry a pair of flats!).
