Obviously a clutch probably but do you use any other bag as a clutch for nights out? Like a makeup clutch or a shoulder or money wallet?

I use my Firsts and small Matelasse, but would love an Envelope clutch or oval to use on nights out
The shoulder and makeup will do the trick too, but they are smaller - so it depends on the amount of stuff you want to take which you will prefer, I suppose. The money wallet is too small to use as a clutch imo, unless you are just going to the store...

I have two Shoulders and I use them for this purpose all the time! The size is perfect and the strap length is ideal for for carrying over the shoulder (I guess that's how the style got its name). I also hook the strap on itself and carry as a wristlet.
But, the Shoulder is not a very dressed up style. I don't carry it to weddings, formal dinners, etc. I think the Envelope or the new clutch out this season (I forget the style name) are more appropriate for true evening wear. |

I love the shoulder style and really want one, but to validate even thinking about another bag I think I need a formal clutch for weddings, etc. What about the compagnon? How is that different than the money wallet?

Envelope clutch & Flat clutch for party & Dressing up?
For casual, I love the shoulder or makeup clutch. :) |

If it's a formal dinner or wedding, env clutch fits the bill or opt for gsh pochette if u find env is too big.
For casual dining, first, flat clutch or pochette. |

I bought a Chic last fall and used it through the holiday party season - it was perfect for that. For me, my going out bag has to fit on the shoulder and leave both hands free. One for the glass of wine, the other for the hugging and hand shaking.

I like my shoulder's for a not too dressy night out. They hold just enough and leave my hands free. I have a few normal shoulders and got the LE Neiman's one with the long strap and they all are great for this. If I were going dressier, I would probably use my Aumoniere. I haven't had a dressy function since I got her, but I think she will fit the bill.
