Actually, my Work is brand new, I got it three weeks ago! I've been wearing it every day and so far I'm loving it!

I think this thread should be moved to the reference section, people wonder about the handles often!

brunettetiger, afcgirl, danae, glossie--THANK YOU for the information:)

danae--THANKS for posting pics!

This makes me feel better about possibly getting a Work--the City's handles can fit comfortably over my shoulder AFTER it's been broken in and only when I'm not wearing a thick coat. After seeing some pictures of just the Work standing alone, the handles seem so short--I was beginning to worry, but now I'm one step closing to getting a Work:)
THANKS AGAIN!

I think they are a tight fit. I don't know why they don't make them longer. City, same thing. I can wear them that way, but rarely do. I can't stand bags right up under my armpit.

I dunno...the RH Work handles don't seem noticeably longer (when wearing over the shoulder) than the RH City handles to me. They may be ever-so-slightly longer, but not longer enough to make a difference to me. I do have fat upper arms, though...

I'm not a small person, but I feel a big difference between the City's and the work's handles. The City does go under the armipit even with light clothes, it's not the most comfortable bag to wear on the shoulder.

i always carry my bags on the crook of my arm. if i need to use both my hands i try to carry a city so i can use the strap... but this is something you have to plan ahead of course... usually for shopping trips i use cities. this is why sometimes it's good to have a day bag or a hobo also!

but i think the work handle is slightly longer than city handles though.

ques....

do the handles on the new bags, ie. 07 seem longer on the work than the older bags?? or is it just me. it seems that something is going on with the handle lengths of the new bags.. its sort of throwing me off..

even tho i agree that the handles when longer or stretched do fit over the shoulder better, i do not like to wear my bbags over my shoulder.

the seemingly longer handles on the newer bags seem to look out of proportion to me... and its one of the ways i was able to spot a fake a mile away on the street, as the fakes always make the handles longer...

any info or ideas on this?

Danae - thanks for the comparison pics!! Your work looks delish - what year is it from?

Toni - last I checked, only GH bags had longer handles. I was looking into getting an 07 Work in the beginning of the year and was initially excited about the longer handles, but was told that only the GH ones were going to have them. If anyone knows more about this, I'd love to know as well!

hmm... you must be right. i did see some pics around of bags that seemed to have longer handles. i will take a look and see if i could find some examples of what i mean. Maybe it was just the angle of the photo that looked longer..
OT.. hi slinks!!!!

slinkie, my Work is from winter 2007. It's my first Work so I don't know if its handles are longer than before... And I didn't compare it to the GH handles, because I'm not a fan of the GH so I never look at GH bags... !
Toni, I know what you mean, the longer handles do seem strange, but when I look at my Work they feel very proportionate.

my work's 2007 too. it's possibly the angle...? the city here is 07 too:

the handles of the work are stiffer, though. don't think they'll break in much soon as i don't lug heavy stuff too often.

glossie, the handles of your Work look bigger than your City's, too!

I just got the vert foncé weekender yesterday which is the 2007/3 collection, the handles are much longer than the previous weekender, what a great thing. the salesperson at the printemps haussmann showed me the older version with shorter handles and the difference was amazing. i confirm it's comfortable to carry, even on my winter coat!!!! and the leather is soooooooooo delicious.... i was in love when i touched the leather!!! vert foncé wasnt on my wishlist at all but i fell completely for this big size b bag!!!!
