Sorry you got a fake but thanks for turning it into such an informative post for all of us. Scary indeed. Glad you'll be getting your money back.

I can tell once you look at the studs and rivets. The studs look almost like Pewter HW. The front leather tag is off too. Did you have this bag authenticated before it was purchased?

The Day was introuced in 2005, so you know there wouldn't have been PH. That color looks like 03 Mastic, but again, they never made Day bags in 2003.

Totally sucks though! Did you get your money back and leave negative FB?

A note on receipts:

They are very easily faked by "professional" counterfeiters, and also available with minimal effort to everyday people. I won't bore you all with the details, but as part of my job I have had to authenticate (and in many cases, debunk) receipts from major retailers and specialty stores.

I won't reveal what the big giveaways are for fake receipts (maybe prevent the counterfeiters from improving their game), but if the receipt is an important step in your personal process for authenticating a bag, I would recommend that you phone the retailer and speak to an SA to make sure that the receipt is legit.

As an example, I learned of a service that creates register tape with watermarks, return policies, etc. for major department stores. The counterfeiters just print a fake transaction on the front side of the tape. It looks so real!! People make these fake receipts for auction sites, to return stolen merchandise for cash refunds, etc.

It's a nice extra, but I don't put a lot of weight on receipts. It took me a long time buying and window shopping Bal displays before I felt comfortable purchasing resale handbags from private sellers. I've been lucky so far, but also very picky. The authenticators on TPF are fantastic, an especially great resource when considering an oldie or some other discontinued style that you can't study in IRL!!!

i can tell it's fake from the 2nd photo (of the handles).. it looks like there's stitching directly along/underneath the handle

such a shame... there's a reason some ladies refer to bay as EVILbay. hope you were able to get your $ back.

eta: great photo's. i'm sure this thread will prevent others from buying fakes.

OMG!

That IS a good fake, but it's nice to see that the fakers haven't *quite* caught up with the real thing yet (as you can still tell that it's fake....)

Thank you so much for those detailed pictures! This needs to be stickied.
