SGH has black stuff on it--tarnishing?

hi all. i took out my brand new magenta '08 SGH hobo to use for the first time on mother's day. lo and behold, 4 of the rivets(2)/studs had black stuff on them? are they tarnishing already? i read in a different thread that some of the gold hardware were "peeling" off to reveal silver underneath? well in my case, the silver parts of the hardware were turning black. the bag's never been used and it's been in the dustbag since it was bought fr a reputable re-seller. do you think its oxidized?
