Default How protective of B Bags are you???

I live in California. Recently, the weather has been climbing up so high that I just want to dip myself in a cold tub all day long. Unfortunately, I have to take a few classes for summer school. Walking out in the blazingly hot sun is such a torture. However, the thing that I worry the most is my new Olive Messenger baby. It is a leather bag. And for all I know, when leather is being exposed under direct sunlight or heat, it will be damaged over time. What do you do with yours?? Do you carry your Bal babies everyday out in the sun too or you only them see the day once in a while?? Im worried because my baby got pretty hot this afternoon. Am I just being overdramatic??

I think you should not expose it too much to sun, but well, it happens if you walk in the desert () or if you stay for long at beach or something else...if you must stay under the sun just for few days and for a short time than go with her, but if you're going to stay every day for more than an hour under the sun...well, I suggest you not to bring her....As saw in some pics, I think that sun can be one of the reason of decoloring...well, surely not after 3 or 4 times you bring her under the sun, but...
However, I take my bag out even if it is sunny (mine is white) because I know that I walk 50% through sun and 50% throug shadows (I live in a city), so sun is not such a big problem for me.

i've never really been worried about exposing my bbags to sun, and surprisingly my ocean and vert d'eau bal's havent discolored or faded in any way. i'm not overly protective of my bbags, though i do try to be somewhat careful w/them i understand that they are BAGS and are meant to be used

i'm a firm believer that bags were meant to be used. normal carry and wear under the sun is just that, normal. when i'm at home, i make sure my bags are in dustbags and not just tanning under sunlight by the window. when i'm out, if i can, i try not to leave my bag under direct sunlight either, like throwing a scarf or jacket over the bag. but i try not to let the babying of my bags limit my lifestyle.

VERY. I NEVER take my bags out if it even looks cloudy. I'm super careful where I place my bag looking out for water, sticky surfaces in restaurants - that kind of thing. I'm really a little nutso about it.

While I take good care not to soil it or cause undue harm to the bag, I usually do not take so much care that I'd be worried to use it.

I live in CA as well.. and on the super hot days I'm out.. I do worry about my bBag in the back of my head. I try to walk in shaded areas if provided, or if I'm out in the sun.. I try not to have my bag exposed for very long in the sun. If the bag is in passenger seat next to me when I'm driving, I put the car sun shade over it.

Good for the bag, AND the skin!

On that note--I worry a lot more about my super-fair skin than I do my bags... but since my Bbag is my ONLY Bbag and most expensive bag period, I'm a little cautious with it. Not with rain or sun, but definitely when I'm doing something that's likely to dirty or damage it (beach, bar hopping, etc.) I carry something else that I don't worry so much about replacement value with.

Wow, I thought I was only one who was being lil overprotective of my bag. It makes me feel better as this proves that Im not insane. LOL. Anywayz, if the bag is damaged (discoloring, skin peeling off, etc.), do you think that Bal would be able to fix it??? I bought my Bally sandals and the shoe cream for maintenance. I asked the SA if that would also work for Bal wallet and bag too; and they said yes. Im still a little doubtful about that because the leather of my bag is distressed. If I used that, would it restore the leather to the original, pre-distressed stage or to how it was when I first got it at the store???

The only 2 lotions I trust would be from Apple Guard or Lovinmybag.com (LMB). Be careful what you use on your bBag, and stay away with anything containing mineral oil. If your bag has faded, color restoration is needed through lovinbmybag. However, distressing is normal for bBags.. and they tend to distress more with use.

What's wrong with your bbag?

I don't abuse my bag but I'm not afraid to use it... for upwards of $1K, bbags better not be sissies!

I'm protective of my b's from people more than from nature! Rain doesn't hurt but careless people do!

Thanx for the concern. Nothing about the leather of my bag is wrong. I was just asking because for all we know, that will happen in the future sooner or later. Im just jumping a lil ahead of time. However, the stitching at the bottom corners of the bag came off though. I dropped him off at Bal LA yesterday for reforcement. They said its going to take about 1-2 weeks. Im missing lil guy already :)

Default Protecting my bags

I agree, the only thing that I would use to protect my bags is the apple leather care and the apple rain and stain protector. I got an email from my friend that says if you use the promo code "returncustomer" you can get 20% off at www.leatherstuff.com.... Just tried it and it worked
