Hi everyone,

After seaching for months I finally found my first bal bag and she just arrived today. Here she is.

However, there are some flaws and I don't know if they are normal for bal bags. I thought I'd check with you experts first before confronting the seller.

Problem no.1

I'm not sure how to describe this one, at the bottom of the bag, there's one part that looked like the leather got stripped off. I hope the picture speaks better for itself.

Here is another part that has a similar situation and it looks like the leather is about to peel off.

Problem no.2

There are some black dots on one of the coners and there are very few other ones here and there on the bag. Is this abnormal? It's not mould is it?

Problem no.3

I found some loose thread on the bag. All my chloe bags have never ever had one loose thread in 2 years.

So here are all my concerns. Does anyone have the same problems? I hope it's not me being too picky lol.

Any help is appreciated.

Where did you purchase it? The stripped/peeling leather is the biggest concern IMO. Those dots are freckles, they're naturally occurring on leather and they show up on lighter bags because the dye doesn't cover them. The loose threads are an annoyance, I would just cut them, but since I find stripped/peeling leather unacceptable on a new bag, I would exchange the bag. Balenciaga's quality control is sometimes questionable and I'm sorry your first bbag isn't perfect. Hope that helps!

I would be concerned with the peeling leather too. They look pretty alarming. The dots like amiekbs8 mentioned is a norm with Bal bags. The loose threads are pretty common too with the newer Bal Bags so I am not too worried about them. You scored with gorgeous leather BUT I would exchange it on the count of peeling leather.

Thanks alot girls. It's from eBay seller hgbags and I've had it authenticated at ATB section. The bag was listed as brand new never worn, is the stripping leather a sign of used? The bag looks new overall and still smells new...

The seller is known for selling authentic brand new bags. Many tpfers have purchased from her. I'm sure if you bring it to her attention you will be able to come to a satisfactory resolution.

Great choice for a first bbag!

I agree with everybody here, the dots are normal, the threads annoying but no biggie but the peeling (?) leather is of concern.

Good luck and please let us know how this gets resolved.

Yes: try to solve this problem with Erica. She's very kind and would probably find a solution for you. For your first B.bag you should have a bag you really LOVE. Good luck!

Yes, do send Erica the pictures and let her know your concerns. I think she'll work with you to work this out.
All the best!

Thank you for your help everyone. I feel alot better finding out only one out of three problems needs to be concerned. I did send Erica an email like you adviced. I also requested a partial refund (I love this bag alot and shipping it forth n back could be annoying for both of us) and I hope it is not offensive to her.

I'll keep you posted.

my sandstone city has a part that looks like this pic you posted:
http://i29.tinypic.com/8wyzhx.jpg

it took me a while to notice it, but i was never concerned, and i've had the bag for well over a year and it's still in great condition. the 'peeling' never got worse. i guess it's just a part where they ran out of leather and had to use a seperate piece

the first picture of the peeling looks worse, though i dont think it would bother me - esp. since the leather is amazing. is this turq or sky blue 08? i havent seen many of these colors w/awesome leather - most are very thick and dry/plasticy feeling.

maybe i'm just under picky about flaws my main concern is always the feel of the leather.

^ Hi, verty. It's a 08 sky blue.

Erica told me that 90% of the bag she gets from balenciaga have corners like this. It might be from displaying in the store or shipping. So she offered me $30 refund or sending the bag back. I was hoping more but I guess I could live with $30 since the bag is so beautiful and yes I love love love the leather. I normally wouldn't make a big deal of it but you can see the discoloration... but hey, everything has flaws.

Thanks again for everyone's help and hopefully I'll find my perfect city soon. (hehehe, I'm hooked!)

if it has fabulous leather you are making a great choice. i have yet to see any sky blues with nice leather... and such a shame b/c the color is gorgeous.

The more I look at the bag the more I love it. I guess I can't complaint coz I got it for $1,000 cheaper than what Australia sells it for. (Yes it costs AUD$2,400 to buy a work bag here).
