There are a million threads dedicated to treating bags. I thought I'd add my 2 cents!
I bought LovinMyBags products but never used them because the smell was really off-putting to me. I wanted to spray my bag with just a protectant in case I got caught in any of our unpredictable Canadian weather. The price to ship AG products to Canada was ridiculous and there was none on eBay (ha ha). So I decided to try Danier Leather Defense Spray which is said to be safe on all their leather and suede jackets and bags. Danier uses quite a veriety of skins (cow, lamb etc) and since Bal is Goat/Lamb, I thought I'd give it a try. It's a clear spray and it dries quickly to touch, but you then leave it for 6 to 8 hours to fully absorb/dry. It has a chemical smell, however after you've left it to dry for even a few hours, there is absolutely NO residual smell whatsoever. There was NO change to the leather's colour or texture either, it was like I hadn't treated the bag at all. I'm so happy with this product, I wanted to share the experience with everyone! I was going to do before/after pics, but there was no point because there was no change at all. I sprayed an Ink and a French Blue coloured bag. My bag and wallet still have that Bal leather smell!! Mods; feel free to move this to Care & Maintenance whenever appropriate, I just wanted to share in the main forum! |

Thanks for your post. I was just about to order Apple leather care online since that is what everyone seems to be using on their Bbags... but I too, am from Toronto and have the Danier Defense Spray at home... So I guess it will be safe to spray it on my motorcycle?
But one thing though.. this spray is about 3 years old I think.. lol. Do you think I should still be able to use it and not go paranoid about ruining my bag? One more question, I also have the Renewal Lotion from Danier. Have you used that as well on the bag? Thanks in advance for your help! |

Hi misshel! No, the only product from Danier I've tried is the defense spray. Mine isn't brand new either, I think it's about 2 years old. It was stored in a cool closet though, so it should be ok. I would imagine yours should be too, but it's pretty cheap so if you're uncomfortable using it, I think a new bottle is only 10 bucks or something.
I'm so happy with the results, it doesn't look, feel or smell treated! |
