who that's terrible if it's only beenless than a year...there really SHOULD be some sort of warranty huh..but then i guess they can never gauge how much people use their bags and how rough they are either..lots of money for something to not last..

my bag is absolutely beautiful, I love it.

It makes me cry to see that the handles let it down.

I think i've read here somewhere that balny will have handles completely changed to new ones for a price. I remember the price was reasonable for completely new handles.

looks like the glazing has come off. i think LMB can reglaze them for you or you can get completely new handles (could just be an urban myth tho) from Bal NY. takes a long time and who knows if they even offer that service anymore...
try contacting barbara at Lovin' My Bags (LMB) - i'm almost positive this is something she can do

BalNY charges $150 for new handles. not bad, give them a call! Btw it only takes about 3 weeks... but since you're in australia i guess shipping may take longer.

Wow, that is unacceptable for a bag less than a year old. So sorry this happened to you.

The leather on your bag looks gorgeous. I think there is a thread somewhere about splitting handles. It is happening to my Sienna Day too but the handles do not split open but I see all the whitish part. I leave it alone tho. Had the bag about less than half a year or so & I use it quite a bit. But I did got get all that thread fraying.

Here you go, Chipped edges? Cracked Sealant, Waxy Edgework flaking off

I'm sorry this happens, but my SA said that Bbags have a fast vintage process, so they quickly seem old bags...But not each bag spilts or react the same way......if you don't like it, I suggest you, as the other girls,
1st) Call BalNY and explain, then send them these pictures, in the case they can't do anything (that seems unreal to me)...pass to 2nd) Write LMB and explain too..Hope to hear good news from you
Hugs!

If I were you I would just send it to Bal for completely new handles. It is $150 and takes up to three months to actually get the handles into BalNY from France so they can have their repair guy (in NY)replace them.

I personally would never send any bag to LMB because every bag I have seen come back from them comes back "different." Tht is just me though, I am sure tons of people have been happy with LMB.

wow, the bag isn't even a year old, that's not acceptable!

It happend to my rouge theatre city also, but after over two years and believe me I have no mercy for my bags, they have to survive work, university, shopping, clubbing and rock festivals.

I think the best you can do, is to call BalNY speak to the SA who sent you the bag, and tell him or her what happend! I don't know how it is in the US, but in Europe you have a waranity of a least 2 years, they have to repair it for free!

Sometimes you have to be persistant.
found a crack in a vuitton after 15 months, my SA wasn't in the shop and the other SA told me, that it's impossible and that I misuse my bag and do not take care the way they told me. Best was " If you are not happy with our quality, you don't have to buy our bags!"
The next day I spoke to the manager, showed again the receipt and after a min he came bag with a new bag!

In your case the situation is trickier because of the Australia/ NY distance, but don't let them fool you!
If you are paying over 1000 $ for a bag you can at least expect good service and high quality!
And bags are there to wear them and not just putting them in a showcase and starring at them!

But if they really can't do anything for you, go for the 150$ handles.

There are 2 edge sealants for leather I can find online:

1) Edge Kote - some members have tried it with success
http://sewwhatsupplies.com/cart/inde...products_id=94

2) Found this from some professional leather worker forum. Highly recommended in that forum, but not sure if any tPFers have tried it before.
