Default Re: Very new to balenciaga :) IS THIS NORMAL? pics inside

I just noticed on my Black City bag that same thing.
Only mine is on the bottom. Looks like the black leather came off and is now showing white. I am upset since this bag was purchased in late Dec 07.
Check out the picture and let me know what you think? Normal for the leather to come off in this place. I treat this bag like a baby.

Default Chipped edges?

Hi ladies ... I just got a used 08 Magenta City. It was bought 6 months ago but only used for 2 weeks. As I was examining the bag I discovered this at 2 places - the sealed edge has a chip in it. Has this happened to your bags, and what can I do to keep it from chipping/peeling more?

Thanks.

I don't remember what it was called, but someone posted a "fix," that she'd devised for the cracked sealant at various places (around the handles, or at the top edges ). She used a product that seemed to work for her. All I can suggest is that you try doing a search for edge sealant, or various similar words on the Bal reference threads.

Wish I'd noted it down for myself actually.

Alternatively, I'm sure LMB can fix it, but that involves time and money.

moved to care & feeding.

Nicole asked about the sealant on the handles, same stuff different place, but no fix:

Repairing/Fixing handle glaze- can it be done??

I know LMB can repair it.

Mine has chipped too and it's been less than two months. Funny thing is that I sent the bag back to BalNY for repairs because the dye was flaking off. But the handles were fine. But when I got the bag back from BalNY, the sealant had chipped. Kim, my SA, told me that I could send it back but I'd already sent it back once and I wasn't about to send my bag back twice in as many weeks so she left it open as a service, so I could send my bag back whenever. Maybe you could call your SA to see if the place where you got the bag from will do something like that? If you got your bag off eBay or somewhere other than the big authorised dealers, like Bal itself, Saks or Nordstroms', try calling Balenciaga anyway to see if they can recommend something for it?

You could always do the mixing your own sealant trick but you might not be able to get an exact match on the shade of the sealant and that might be ok for some, but for others, it might ruin the entire bag.

Hope that this helps! :)

Default question about bal handles

Hi girls, recently i just got a black 08 city
and after a month of use, i noticed that one of the handles have begin to split, revealing the white material underneath

is this typical of bal bags...? i was (unpleasantly) surprised. i will be visiting NYC in July and was thinking of dropping it at BalNY for them to have a look at it. but because i reside in Canada, if they do send it to fix, it will be a troublesome to ship back.

any suggestions?

The edges of my 08 handles are wearing off revealing the white inner surface. Utterly disgusting effect on an EB bag.

its tough to do, but return to Bal NY, it will take awhile but it will be fixed, or re-sealed

I have a black city that's about 3 years old and the handles are looking like that too. I'm moving to NY soon so I'll get Bal NY to fix the handles for sure. I didn't even know that was an option. This thread has been really informative!!

Default Is my Steel City returnable or fixable?

I pruchased my balenciaga from NY Bal. It was done over the phone and shipped to me in australia.
I got it in October/November 07.

In the photos you can see the handles have split. It looks terrible and honestly the bag should be in excellent condition within 1 year of purchase.

The fraying doesn't bother me that much, i will just cut that back.

Will they accept this as a fault and fix it for me.
is there warrenty on balenciaga bags?

I have tried emailing but no-one has gotten back to me.

maybe i just have to live with it

Any suggestions?

Eeek, sorry that happened to your bag. Since you got it from BalNY I think it is safe to say they will NOT return it. You can probably send it to them for repair so they can fix the sealant and edging problems you are having. They will charge you for this though. Tough to say though why this happened to such an extreme because a lot depends on how hard you are on bags
