Exclamation ACK! I've committed a sin...HELP!

I just bought my first every FIRST the other week in Skye Blue. Being the novice that I am, I never realized how much tender loving care these Bbags needed in general...

...here goes:

I stupidly and mindlessly plopped a wet towel right next to my bag, and soon enough, there was a enormous dark visible raise wet spot. Or spots, rather. Not only on the bag, but partly on the strap!!! I'm beating myself over the head right now and muttering, "this is totally something ONLY I would do..."

It's been a week and the spot has dried, but the visible "raising" of the leather has not gone down!

Please help ladies. My heart is broken, and it was all my fault, but is there any solution at all? I treated my bag as soon as I got it with Applecare stain and water repellent, but I guess I must have done something wrong...

images are as follows:

Pat it down with a dry paper towel & let it air dry over night. It shoooullld return back to normal tomorrow. (I think, fingers crossed) I've heard of people carrying there bbags in the rain.. and there bags turned out fine. I think you should be all right..

Thank you oogie, but its been a week, so patting it down with a dry towel isn't going to do much at this point. From the way I see it, the leather is pretty much damaged... ::tears::

Oh, wow a week!! Must've missed that part... I'd contact Lovinmybags.com email Barbara your pictures and ask for a quote & see if the bag could be color matched. The bag can be saved.. just depends if you're willing to $$ for the color correction fee, which can range in price. Best of luck to you, and keep us updated.

So sorry to hear that. I'm a little confused as to how that happened though. I have always thought and known Bal bags to be able to take a little rain without coming to much harm. If you treated it with AG water/stain repellant the minute you got her that waterstain shouldn't have happened either. I'm befuddled. Waiting to hear other comments. Hope you can get it fixed!!

I'm sorry this happened to you...and no it's not something only you would do.. and the bag shouldn't be this touchy.

I've not seen water do that to Bal leather before. I'm wondering if the towel was wet with Sea water, or maybe with heavily chlorinated swimming pool water. It looks almost like it's been bleached.

I wanted to tell you to moisturize it like crazy, but I'm not sure if that's the answer if the color is actually lifted. If it were mine, I'd ask Barbara at LMBs to advise. I wouldn't want to dye it, but maybe there's some other way.

Don't give up. There may be a simple answer.

Would Apple Leather Conditioner work? I use it for scratches and it covers them up pretty well. It smooths over the leather and darkens it a bit. If you put some conditioner around the edges of the watermark, maybe it would make it less visible? HTH.

This should NOT happen. I am shocked. I'd take the bag back to where you bought it from and complain. Leather should be able to take a bit of wetness. I wear my bbags in the rain and have not had any problems with water damage.

I am sorry this happened to you. Let us know how it ends.

I don´t have any advice on how to get rid of the water mark but I am writning to console you...you are not alone in being prone to these kind of things, I am a disaster magnet myself. Good luck with the stain,

Kat

was the towel on the bag through the night? if not, this really shouldn't have happened but i also must say that my bbag really became different after a slight shower in the rain. i actually liked what the rain did to it.

i can only suggest checking with LMB what your options are. i have a feeling you might be better off saving money trying to bring it back to its original state. just wear the bag to oblivion. the leather's supposed to wear well over time.

hope all turns out ok for you.

I don't know if this makes a difference, and being a new Bbag owner and all I obviously know nothing, but the bag is lambskin leather? Perhaps that sort of leather is more...fragile?

Thank you for the condolences.

As for the water, it was just plain ole' tap water on a wet bounty paper towel. I left it there for about 30 minutes, then picked up my bag and basically had a heart attack.

I'll ask barbara tonight what to do and keep you guys updated! Thanks so much!

Take it back to Neimans and complain? I'm such a meek complainer... If only I had the resolve you seem to have even as you typed your response. lol.

has anyone ever complained to Neimans before? and if so, what can they possibly do? Replace my bag? It hasn't been a month yet, so I know the return window is still open.

maybe I will call them up first before I go there in person with my head hanging low for destroying such a beauty.

I have had this happen to me before...not on a Balenciaga but similar in leather, and definitely lambskin.

I have been able to restore my bags but really using my own methods so please do this only at your own risk.

First, I would gently gently go over the entire bag with a damp cloth..just enough so that the edges of the stain are blended in with the non-stained part of the bag. Go lightly over the main sides of the bag so it looks uniform.
Let the bag semi-dry overnight, then while it is still ever so slightly damp, GENTLY go over the entire bag with a leather protector like lmb.
Let the bag dry completely, then GENTLY buff the bag with a semi-sturdy towel (like what lmb supplies you with)

The only drawback to this method is that it may lose the "newness" shine but it will look more worn in but still new

Otherwise I suppose you might be able to trade it in for a new one but the bag will eventually look this way...slightly worn in but not at all ruined
