Might it be a good idea to test whatever you are trying on a small area in as discreet a position as possible before you go for it whole heartedly?

My Electric Blue agneau has been very very wet from torrential rain but probably not for as long as your leather. The colour and surface did not change apart from a little dryness and decrease in shine.

I kind of think that moisturising or using leather protector as suggested above would help.

Don't put any chemicals, lotions or treatments...they won't remove the watermark, but will set it. I bought an '06 Lilac Wallet with water spots before and made it worse with cleaning and conditioning. I think your best bet is to make the bag look even in the way it was changed initially.

I would test this on the strap: tap water wet paper towel all over the normal leather and a little on the already watermarked area. Wait 30 minutes and remove the paper towel. Then let the strap dry naturally out of sunlight and/or heat.

If it looks better then I'd do the bag. I might even go as far as dunking the entire bag into a sink of water for a couple minutes and then gently toweling it off, stuffing it with paper towels and letting it air dry for a number of hours and then change the paper towels or remove them and continue to let the leather dry.

Once it's completely and thoroughly dry I'd moisturize the leather with Apple Care Conditioner and buff per the instructions. Good luck!

I think this is basically what happened. It got softer, not that it wasn't soft to begin with, but the initial shine is gone...

Thank you everyone for your support and suggestions.

Right now, I will only do something to it if it will restore the bag to it's original form, if not, I do not want to take the risk because I really like it for it's shine-ness and metallic like sheen, which the water damage took away.

Options I'm going to explore:

a) calling Neimans and seeing what they can do

b) emailing barbara at LMB and seeing what she suggest and at what price

c) leaving it as it is because, like a reader stated, it will eventually look worn anyways from continuous wear...and I do love her so much (I even named her Estelle ) that I plan to wear her as much as I can.

Once again, I'll keep you guys updated on options a & b.

Thanks a bunches!!

I was always told never to let leather get close to water because it'll ruin the texture of the leather, so I wouldn't suggest applying water to the entire bag. Wait for Barbara's reply would be the best since she's the expert.

Quick little update:

I wrote to Barbara a few days ago but she has not responded. Perhaps I have the wrong email? I used info@lovingmybags.com.

I called Neimans, and they basically said that what happened to me is categorized under a manufacture's defect. My options are to take it to Neimans and they will ship it to Balenciaga who will call me and tell me what they can do to repair the bag. Unlike Dior, they will charge for their services.

In my opinion, it's not worth the hassel to part with my bag right now.
