I'll let you know if I get it.....

Thanks so much, at least I won't make a fool of myself proudly wearing a fake

Hi, in looking for info about this Gianni Versace bag, I found your website, and what a wonderful resource and what a fun read it is!

I sell clothing on ebay, and I'm learning about the purses I'm starting to pick up (but somehow the Coach purses I've found have never made it to auction ). Yesterday I found this purse, and know nothing about Versace purses (although I have sold some of his neckties). In looking around here, none of the real or faux purses look like this mild-mannered purse. Is it real? Just old? or a dismal fake? Thanks so much for your thoughts and opinions!

The bag has no logos or name on the outside - the metal on front isn't engraved.

When the shoulder strap is unsnapped, the "receiver" snaps are stamped "STOCKO--4--".

The soldering on the "spear" in front is sort of messy, and the chain holding the spear is heavy, and the soldering on each of the links is apparent, too. (although I'm not familiar with soldering work, maybe this is the way it is, good quality or not).

The bag does feel like very nice leather.

The lining is printed with "Gianni Versace", then a space of 3 inches, then the name again, rows of this, separated by light blue lines.

The nameplate is leather, not metal, and the stitching goes a bit into the lettering of "Made in Italy".

I think the zip pull on the pocket is stamped "ITPO" or "OPTI".

I'm sorry, but this is a fake. You are right, the craftmanship of a Versace (even an older one) is never this poor!

Sorry about the delay! I cannot see the pics. Can you try uploading them another way, or maybe posting a link?

Thank you so much, rbaby. In addition to the poor workmanship, do you know if the lining and the inside label are indications of a fake, too - that is, no real Versace bags had linings or labels like that?

Thanks so much!

I would like to see a close up of the Medusa icons on the frame closure of the bag, but so far this looks good to me!

I have seen a style very similar to this, but in all black or all white, never in this combination. Also, the strap on this is VERY different than the strap on the ones I have seen at the boutique. The Greco pattern and the interior plate (with the stitching all around) look very off to me. The top of the bag, where the zipper is-- should not look like this. It looks like the bag is a bit longer than the white zipper part on either side (and the zipper has that hang over effect too). I'm thinking A+++ or super-fake, but that's JMO. Maybe someone else can chime in, or you could take it to the Versace boutique. Sorry, I wish I could be of more help with this.

Okay, I did a little research with the style I mentioned, and now I am more confident... Sorry, I'm pretty sure this is a fake.

Eeeek really! Thanks for your help. I have a client that I sell her stuff for and she is a mad Versace, Chanel and Dior buyer that would never buy fakes so Im really surprised. I've only asked the question because I dont know the names and not clued up on the brands and she's very hard to get hold of so I thought I'd get some answers here. Thanks again for your help. What was the style you mentioned? Anyone else have any comments?? :o)
