Gucci Hand Bag

i just picked up this Gucci hand bag at a thrift store. i was wondering if it's real or fake. there's a serial number on the back side of the black tag on the inside. #00963 001998.
black tag on the inside and the clasps on the outside all read "gucci made in italy"
can't find any tags or clasps that read made in china or japan, etc.....
