The Bolide looks like Ardennes leather.

Since so many people request info on bags previously discussed, could you provide instructions on how to do a search without having to scroll back page by page by page? The search link on the top right of the page does not cooperate when I type in an e-bay item number.

^^^
try the advanced search, just type what you normally would do using the search on the top of the page. It should work:-)

Took me a bit of time to figure this one out too. Mistikat and others have given how-to-search information repeatedly in the last archived thread. You can't search by ebay number. You have to search by ebay seller name. The number won't bring up results, but the seller name will.

You also have to search in the entire area, because the references you seek may be in closed threads. Good luck with your search.

Select "search" from the blue bar at the top.

Then select "advanced search". On the left side, put in the seller's name.

At the very bottom left, select "posts".

That should bring up the info. It's better to search by seller name for a few reasons:
- you can see comments that may be unrelated to the item in question but that may be helpful to know when considering a purchase;
- if sellers relist, the auction number will change and it will appear as though the item was never discussed when it may have been
- sellers often list across brands; getting the big picture on what else they have sold (and whether it was felt to be authentic) can also be helpful.

Just one warning about something this kind of advanced search might miss.

If a bad seller has tried to sell off a bad bag, they might try again under another identity. From time to time I have seen a bag removed by eBay. The seller already has--or activates--a new identity and bingo! There the bag is again.

Of course with this kind of problem, the seller usually has very little feedback, or lots of feedback for $2.99 items, so there are other clues that this might not be a good thing. And thankfully there are lots of sharp eyes here. Members are likely to pop up and say WAIT--I've seen that sucker before!

But I just wanted to toss in a little warning about this one situation where the research method would miss something.

Most of these listings would, anyway, likely resemble the one listed a little earlier in this new thread. The birkin propped next to a bathtub (only one image and it had to be a bathtup scene) by a 0 feedback seller for a ridiculously low sum. Sheesh...

Thanks everyone for all the great search tips. Anyone new is not going to go back far enough to know everything. Maybe if there's a specific section on TPF to just give basic search instructions could be helpful, maybe there is already one somewhere? That way instructions won't be lost back so many pages where someone won't be able to find it. Just a thought.

Again, thanks for good advice!

What a great idea! Some people wouldn't bother reading it, but it would save wear and tear on the nerves of some searchers, I'd think.

The easiest way to search is to scroll to the top of the thread you want to search and click on "SEARCH THIS THREAD" enter the seller/ebay #, etc. . .
that way you search that thread ONLY.

this is a fabulous idea and should be required reading prior to posting on the authentication thread (along with the rules) - a simple little compact - no reading, no authentication.
