I am Carolyn and I'm 47 and live in Iowa. Have been dabbling in crafts of one kind or another since I was about 10. I began crocheting then and still have the first blanket I did. Have tried so many things over the years but my favorites have been quilting, mosaics and making handmade soap. I once began to go into business for myself making soap but was actually TOO successful! It kinda took the fun out of it for me so I backed off... but one day I would like to do it again when I have more time.

Two things I've always wanted to do but I am not good at it are sewing and knitting. I have made some gorgeous doll clothes in the past when my daughter was little. Even a professional seamstress told me they were better than hers. However, when I tried sewing larger things for myself or my daughter, I could not do it. And knitting... I've tried many, many times to learn but just cannot seem to get the hang of it.

hi,, first off i want to say that it is really neat to start a thread like this... i have been lurking around tpf for about a yr before getting up the courage to join in the fun!! i frequent hh quite abit,, but saw this thread and would love to share alittle about myself. since i moved from a big town to a small town, i don't get to talk fashion or art as much and tpf is my outlet for that. i am a faux painter, muralist, and just a full fledged painting fanatic,,, i will paint anything thats paintable basically,, about 6yrs ago i started doing artwork on ugg boots and selling em on my website and on ebay, and that has kept me kinda busy when im not doing walls... i will make an attempt to add some pics of acouple things, and would love to hear from any other big city girls,,, turned country bumpkins on how they cope w/ the culture-shock!!! or should i say lack of "culture" -shock!!!
indian ponies on leather...
a day spa that i plastered n faux bricked n stenciled....
a tromp l'oeil talvera sun on a wall...
sunflower ugg boots,,, just to show-off alittle,,,, thanx for looking,,, im still learning everyday about painting walls,,, its hard work for a 40 somethinger like me, but i loovvve lovvve loovve it!!!

Hi, it's nice to meet everyone. I've been knitting, crocheting, needlepointing and stitching sampler reproductions for over 35 years. I've worked in three shops, two specifically for needlepoint and one that carried both NP threads and yarn. I have an organization called Tiny Toppers. We're a group of about 40 volunteers that knit and crochet newborn hats and donate them to hospitals in the Baltimore area. Thanks to our exposure in Ravelry, an online knitting community, we've had donations from as far away as Nevada and New Mexico!

Awh! Well I'm just glad we have an arts and craft subforum to share! Missie got this all started and I couldn't be happier! I totally understand about the being far away thing too... that's when I started making jewelry! I moved from Wisconsin to Colorado to go to graduate school... very scary but now I absolutely LOVE Colorado and can't really imagine living at home lol!

Hi! I'm a 31 yo mom of 1 and I am a scrapbooker! I love my Cricut and my Cuttlebug and would be lost without them:-)

I belong to two clubs/month to get me out of the house with other sbers - Close to my Heart and Stampin Up. I love to stamp and make cards.

The non-sb thing I am getting into is making felt foods. My dd is getting a kitchen for her 2nd bday and so I have started collecting patterns to do this. I have all the felt bought, I just need to find time to sit down and do it!

It's nice to see so many other crafty people here!

I am Kymmie.

I dabble in paper arts of all kinds: art/visual journals, atcs, scrapbooking, cardmaking, mixed media collage, rubber stamping, paper making, bookbinding.

I'm from Wisconsin too! Stevens Point.

I moved from there to California. Sorry to inject myself into this conversation, but I get excited when I see another Wisconsinite.
