Lightbulb Oh Look! Shiny Thing! Crystal Gossip & more: Pre-Blessed Shopping Season Bargains
As you may know, a large company that makes machine-cut, 14-facet lead crystal beads is phasing out its old bicone and replacing it with one advertised as having More Facets Than Ever! (like the hand-cut, hand-polished "lead-free crystals" that are not made by that particular company).

Which one is bestest could be, and in fact, is, a subject for lively and scintillating debate.

Anyway, what this means for poor people is that there are some really good deals right now on those old tired, worn out, pasture-bound bicones, as well as some pretty good deals on the New! Improved! bicones, usually offered by people who plan to charge you an arm and a leg for everything else, and New! Improved! bicones too, in a few weeks.

So poke around eBay and you should be able to find some shiny things for (gasp!) LESS than they were being sold for this time last year.

I think brightlingsbeads.com has better deals on the New! Improved! bicones than any of the eBay ones.

They also have some of the less famous but useful side-drilled kindasorta bicones, but according to my source, for some mysterious reason, they will not let you get more than ten of those in a size.

Disclaimer and Caveat: As is the case with anything, if it is important to you to purchase something manufactured by a particular company, going directly to that company, or choosing from a company-supplied list of authorized vendors is a terrific way to make sure that the product you purchase will indeed have been manufactured by that company. In fact, it's the only way!

The other "hot deal" will only be of interest to people who make use of bead boards with lids.

2beadornot2bead.com has them for under $5 - both the U-channel 3-strand and the straight "bracelet" ones, shipped free to the US and to Canada.

Note: I put this here instead of deals and steals because people who inhabit this section are the only ones who would be remotely interested in things like bead boards, and I didn't put it as a post in the make your jewelry thread because people use those little sharp-edged "crystals" for all kinds of things, and I think the new ones will also be available in flatback flavor.
