I'm looking to black acid wash a denim jacket from Levi's to recreate this look:

Do I buy a black jacket and just bleach in sections then sand it down and wash and dry, or a grey denim jacket? I want it to turn out as close to that as possible. Thank you :)

As far as I understand, when you buy pre acid washed clothes, it isn't done with bleach, it's done with a special type of acid. You have to be really careful or it will eat holes in the clothes. Bleach may just turn it a bit orange so I guess you have to be really careful how long you leave it on for.

I've looked at a few 'how to' guides and some recommend chlorine although it is highly toxic and when gaseous dissolves you from the inside (ew) so I won't be trying that.

This guide seems reasonably safe and pretty detailed. They all seem to recommend pumice stones. http://instructions.wikihow.com/Acid-Wash-Black-Jeans
