Who has painted their ceiling??????

I don't dislike white ceilings, but if it needs to be another color then it gets painted, that's my motto!!!!
Oprah, says that the ceiling is the 5th wall (I mean alot of people have said that but she is the most important, Haha!)

And Ladies I know that some of you are renting so just let me know if you ever would....
Pics to follow ...hold onto to your trendy socks, or knitted socks, or sock monkeys...

^^^ Sounds like a cool idea, but throughout my house we have the bumpy, sandpaper-esque ceilings

I love painted ceilings!

I remember on the HGTV show "color splash" david once painted a ceiling in smoky grays and blues that reminded him of the ocean... it was so lovely and created a lot of depth in the room!

I'm a sucker for interest and color though, I absolutely HATE painting ceilings though; talk about an arm workout and a crick in the neck lol!

Yep absolutely, Tyger, it's quite a workout! (Especially, when your preggers and DH is all "I'm not capable of painting anything ~ I'm a man boohoo... but that's another story ~ I digress)

Painted Ceilings are very therapeutic in the bedroom ~ I believe absolutely necessary
in the bedroom, since you do alot of thinking (mostly about how to avoid getting out of bed but also about important things) and I believe that it is essential to have a transition on awaking. White has the highest reflective index so that morning sun really gets the total introduction that is (let's admit it) not exactly necessary when one is meeting the day on Sunday Morning!

I painted all the bedroom ceilings, needless to say (even the guest/craft room) but my favorite ceilings are in my den/formal living room and the dining room. The den has that olde world feel and I put a map in plaster and painted the whole thing gold. I will post pics soon.

Ok finally took the photos....
This is my den...

It took me a while but I finally found an olde world map that was NOT laminated, took it to a copy shop and enlarged it into a huge puzzle and pieced it together.

The good thing about the whole process is that my next house will be bigger, I plan to plaster the whole ceiling etc... this job was terrifying.
But the results are still pretty cool.

This is just a boring old satin paint rolled job but I can't imagine the ceiling white... (dining room)

This is My Guest/Craft room almost the same colour as the Dining Room~~~
like a waterscape....blue green...(I wanted it to feel like a Tiffany's box only more organic).....

This is DS's room, I painted it to match the Armour that we picked up at a local furniture store (I loved that piece so much, so all three walls continue around it ~ If you move it away from the wall it is the same image behind it... You'll notice that the ceiling has very faint clouds that make the whole "sky seamless"

Amamxr, that new look looks like a million buck$ compared to the the white wall. Looks a little like burl without the knots.

I love this thread! I've been looking on here for something related to home decor.

I will post pictures tomorrow when I have better lighting. I haven't done much since we only moved into our house in May and I haven't had a lot of free time. I plan on doing a lot this year though.

Um...WOW!!!

Looks fabulous!

I have redone almost my whole house. I don't have before pictures but just imagine the 70s threw up on it and the lowest-end materials and finishes ever. I did most everything, including tiling the floors, myself and on a VERY tight budget, and while it's still not my dream home, it's SO much better than before! I will try and post pics in a bit.
