Default Holiday Themed Trees and Decorations!
I love "The Theme." I am working on an upside down martini tree (to hang from the ceiling) for above the bar area in my kitchen and I thought.... what other great ideas are the crafty ladies at the Forum coming up with, I wonder??????

My design teacher once said "stay away from themes".... but the roman in me replied "WHY?"
I finished my movie room trees last week, I can't wait to finish the bar tree.... bottoms up!

I LOVE themes!!!!!! My family has themed parties all the time... wow a movie room *drool* and I love your trees! Super cute ideas, I love the oversized tickets and film roll... so cool! I can't wait to see your bar tree!

I don't have any trees to show... I head out of town (back to my parent's house) for the holidays and don't bother doing anything special here in my apartment!

Thank you TygerKitty,

You are probably too busy to even think about anything but finishing school.... I remember those days.... I couldn't even think about the Holidays until after finals!

Default Upside Down Tree
I looked up the concept, I myself was interested and the idea dates back to 12th century Europe. There are advantages to having it upside down.... the ornaments can be seen better, for one. I prefer them smaller and hung from the ceiling as opposed to standing in a base. They remind me of wonderland forest... and the idea of a martini themed tree just adds to the idea of indulgence, like the lampshade on the head.
I also like to hang pine teardrop swags upside down to look like the traditional tree (smaller part on top) in bathrooms and halls (smaller rooms) attaching them to the wall and using battery operated lights.
The tree to me is just another decoration.

Love your themed trees! My mom and I used to do themed trees every year. We did a horse theme, a Winnie the Pooh, a Barbie/fashion, a Victorian, a bird, lots and lots! One of my favorites was actually our asian theme. We went to a local Japanese store and got little dolls and trinkets that we attached ribbons to and hung, and I made bright colored origami balls, and we stuck a bunch of drink parasol umbrellas in the branches. It was so bright and cheery, people loved it! No pics since this was years ago.
Now my "theme" is gold, lol. I got all my ornaments in one go last year and they are all mercury glass balls in shades of copper and gold- I like to keep it simple and this matches my decor, so I'll use them again and again. We didn't do a tree this year and I don't think I have pics from last year though (I'm the worst about pics!).

O.k. so I searched dh's computer and found the inspiration for the Martini Upside down themed tree (mine is far from done!) This was taken at Navy Pier in Chicago last Christmas. I really loved it and can't wait to finish mine! I think it is great for New Year's too!
