I saw this idea at Starbucks so it’s not completely my own, but when I saw the wreaths hanging with the balls of yarn at Starbucks, I thought - I can do this too! So, I headed to Michael’s and had to make my own! If anyone else wants to do it – here’s what you need!!!
- Fake greenery wreath (at Michael’s it was $3.99 on sale for $1.99 this week) - Any color Christmas ornaments - Hot Glue Gun - 2 skeins of yarn – I used one red, one green - Optional ribbon for bow Make 3 yarn balls (or as many as you wish) in each color and hot glue to the wreath. If you don't know how to make the uniform balls of yarn, here's a good explaination online of how to do it: http://www.wikihow.com/Wind-a-Yarn-Ball I just make a bunch of yarn balls that are different sizes. Add in Christmas ornaments by randomly gluing them to the wreath. Make a bow out of ribbon and glue that to the top! There you have a unique Yarn Christmas Wreath! I'm actually in the process of making another wreath that will be almost covered in the yarn balls and think it will be quite pretty when it's done! I will certainly post it here when it's finished. Did I mention I'm so happy we have this forum? ![]() ![]() ![]() Here's my first wreath:

Oh it's cute!! The yarn balls kind of look like Mickey Mouse heads.. So this can easily be turned into a Mickey themed wreath!!

^ I was going for holly berries... They are usually in groups of three...but whatever inspires craftiness, is fine with me!

I bet you could make holly bunches too! Get some leaves that look like holly leaves and then the three red yarn balls... that'd be cute too! I don't know how you would hang it though? lol This is super cute and would be fun to do with children because they could help pick ornaments to put on and colors of the yarn!

The wreaths at Starbucks uses styrofoam balls wrapped with yarn and ornaments only, no fake greenery wreath. I think the fake greenery makes it look cheap.

^Umm... nice first post :s
Anyway, I think it's a great idea! I think I'm going to make one out of all my leftover yarn balls, so it would be all sorts of colors and sizes

I love that idea, and you did a great job, too!
You could even decorate the door to your craft room with one! |

I stupidly made a new thread about the yarn ball wreaths without searching first, but I see you beat me to it, and I must say yours is so cute! You did a great job! I'm off to the craft store tomorrow to make one for myself for '09!
