Default Can someone help me with decorating a christmas wreath?
Hi everyone!

I know we still have a long way until Christmas (well..not too long!) but I just bought a plastic wreath (looks very real though...nice and full) and I am starting to think about decorating it for christmas and hanging it on my wall in the hallway.

Just one problem: I don't know how. I've been looking around online but just really haven't found anything good for beginners like me!

Anybody have any tips?

If there is a Dollar Tree near you, go there. They should be cranked up by now, and just walking in the door will answer all your questions.

If not, go to the dollar store that you do have access to, and there you will find all kinds of stuff you can use to decorate everything from your wreath to your husband's moustache.

Be sure to get stuff that has bendable wires, take it home, and decorate your wreath, bend, twist, and wrap the wire stems to hold the decorations in place.

Thanks Shimma!

We have a couple of 1-€ stores here but I never thought to go there to look for small decorations! Thanks for the idea

I took a look around marthastewart.com and couldn't find anything that a) I really liked and b) that I'd be able to do! But I did find some really cute gift wraping ideas!!

I love those pick things that you stick in flower arrangements or similar things...they have TONS at the craft stores right now, I'm not sure if they have any stores like around you but they're perfect for decorating wreaths!

Of course leaves/floral works well, but also putting mini ornaments and pine cones on looks great!

I've seen dried hot chili peppers and wine corks on wreaths. You either use the wire wrapping or even hot glue them in place? I bet bows and pine cones would look nice too. Sounds like a fun project! Enjoy!

Even just some unusual ribbon placed properly, could be gorgeous! I have an entire wall of wreaths I've made, some very elaborate, and some, just like I described. You can get creative, and use things you find around your house. Good luck, and have fun.

I love to take Christmas Balls & Shiny bells and mix in w/pine cones and dried berries etc. to fill it up-then I always add a sprig of Cinnamon or Eucalyptus(but be careful the Eucalyptus will bleed and stain any walls it touches so you can also slip some real pine or cedar branches in there too-it gives it a nice aroma and when they dry you can pull them out and easily insert new ones-lastly buy some big colorful ribbon and make an amazing bow & some colorful gold beads and you are finished!
There are so many variations I have done over the years-you can even use old family memorabilia or do theme wreaths with bears, skate shoes and more-Mainly the idea is to have fun expressing your creativity!

oh oh i love making wreaths...im very crafty
what kind of plastic wreath is it?
do you want something traditional or something funky?
do you have anything that means something to you and the family that you can add, give it a real personal touch?
do you want a color theme?
