Typical RAOK rules on tpf include posters having 400+ posts and being active in the forum holding the RAOK... this is to help guarantee that everyone will actually get their RAOK gift and have no need to implement an 'angel' system where others volunteer to make up for people that slack out on their responsibilities as a RAOK participant.

I'm almost positive you do not need mod approval. You typically set up a thread where people answer some fun questions about themselves and they answer to you can learn more about what your buddy likes... then someone either has to collect participants and addresses and randomly pair them up or use a program like elfster to do this for you.

You need to set a $$$ limit, a date that the package HAS to be shipped by and you MUST send with a tracking number which is posted to the person running the RAOK so they can be sure everyone gets their gift. You also need to decide if this is for 'finished' craft projects, craft supplies, other stuff, etc. You do not need any particular number of people because you don't have the person that has you... so everyone can have someone different!

When you receive your RAOK gift you should post pics within two or three days (whatever is decided) including outer packaging (addresses blanked out on boxes!) if they decorated it! You will have a RAOK reveal thread or continue with reveals on the original sign up thread.

I think that covers it!

^^ It might be best to let this subforum become established for a few more months before trying one?

^^^I think you're right. It was a little early to propose being as interested tPF'ers will need the minimums to participate.

It sounds like waiting is a good idea to me as well. Plus, there are quite a few regulars in here w/o a ton of posts, so that will give them a chance to join w/ the requirements.

I'm ready to join! I'd love to be able to "show off" some of the stuff I make in doing a swap! And I'd like to see the talent of other members as well. Sign me up!

I'd love to do this if it happens. I've never done a RAOK before but I don't need much convincing to go shopping..

Hey everyone - Is someone going to spearhead this raok?
or is it dead?
I would be willing to co-run it with someone.
Let's do this!

I think it was forgotten. We wanted to do one, but it didn't seem to have enough interest? Maybe after the holidays we could try to get one going. I always want to do an RAOK, but haven't signed up yet. This would be a good place to get started.

I would love to join a crafts RAOK after the holidays. Maybe for Valentines Day?
