Chessmont: I wish you hadn't deleted! I don't particularly care about people wearing fur. I just don't do it because I don't have the money (and wouldn't think to spend it that way even if I did) but I don't care either way. I was just asking because I wanted to see if there was another side to that lawsuit. Thanks for the info!

-I'm sorry lillian, did you get to see it before I deleted? I just get so worked up about the anti-AR side of these issues that I am afriad I will go over the edge and get banned (so does that mean you saw it before I deleted? If so, thank you for the reasoned response...)

I can PM my thoughts if yout didn't see it.

I'm anti-fur as well but cannot condone infringing on others rights to get my point across about it. I prefer educating people about it so they can make their own decision in the future. And hopefully, that decision will be against wearing it.

BTW - I'd appreciate if we could keep this thread about Billy and not let it turn into an anti-fur thing KWIM?
Thanks!

You know what changed my mind about "evil zoos"? The book Life of Pi, by Yann Martel. I won't go into detail because I think everyone should read this book, but it really gave me a different perspective on animals in "captivity".

Shoo, please keep us non-LAers posted about Billy!

When I read that book I thought "finally someone gets it!" helps that the author came from that background and has pretty much the same philosophy I and so many of my peers share. Its being made into a movie and some of the people who are going to animate the tigers came to our zoo to observe ours and do some movement research and such. can't wait for it to come out.

Bagnshoo, I heard there was another meeting today or yesterday in LA about this- sounded some good, some AR bad - can you give us any details? I have heard details, but would rather get them from an accurate source. Thanks!
Or have I been misinformed?

Hi guys! Been very busy on the homefront and at work. There was another meeting this Tuesday that went well but of course, the media didn't say a word about it because it went well for us and there was no drama. A lot of keepers spoke passionately about what we do not only at the zoo but what we do conservation-wise. The animal rights people were there but didn't really say anything because there was really nothing to say. They all left very pissed off. They just don't want to see our side about anything. We at least tell them that we understand that they care about animals (or seem to) but they will concede nothing where we are concerned - their egos just won't let them. Its very frustrating but we are not going to be quiet anymore and are going to become just as loud and as agressive as they are - and we have the truth on our side. We're not going to take it anymore! We are not abusers. We love our animals very much and they are part of our family. We are taking it to the streets!
I will update with more when I have it. Again, thanks for your support. It will always mean very much to me and to my co workers.

The highlighted words are key. Fanatical ARs use The Big Lie technique. keep repeating a lie or lies and eventually people will believe it. See Mein Kampf (I am not kidding) for instructions on the technique.

Be visible, show up, ask everyone you know to show up at meetings, peaceful protests, etc. to help you. and use facts, keep to the high road and help the general population who has no idea of the real AR agenda see that these people are nuts and freaks.
Amen.
