From a personal point of view, I have two pure breed dogs (Golden Lab and Bichon Frise) and one mixed breed (Staffordshire Terrier cross [not sure what with, possibly Collie]) and I can say for certain that she is the most intelligent, obedient and least deranged of the three!
I would, therefore, highly recommend cross and mixed-breeds.

If I lived in an apartment that allowed dogs, I would be adopting one of these beauties right now. I love dogs too-not just cats! |

By the way, Becca, if you particularly wanted another Beagle, they have a 3 year old female Beagle mix called Dixie:
http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/...?petid=6195370 They also have a young male Beagle mix called lucky: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/...?petid=6481996 ...and a male Beagle mix pup, without a name: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/...?petid=6482007 They're not the most urgent (although still incredibly urgent, obviously), but I hope rehoming one of them may help the others, too. |

We have a lab mix and what a wonderful dog and total nutjob
. She has some Staffordshire in there too I think, that very distinctive sturdy build they have. Mutts rule!! I was looking at my dog's Dogster page when I found this notice about the pets in dire need. There are many lab mixes and other available at this shelter. Nice grown dogs you don't have to paper train And kitties too.PLEASE if you are intererested call 304-496-9379 and see what arrangements can be made for transportation! CORKY, MACKENZIE & DYLAN need homes ASAP. Keep us posted! |

Okay...I went and posted this on another forum (a beading forum) and sent an e-mail to my sister in law who lives on the east Coast in Pennsylvania. She knows a LOT of people all over that area so I'm hoping she'll help spread the word.
I just want to CRY when I look at the photos. If I didn't already have two dogs and two cats in our tiny little house I would want to bring several of them home. :( Those puppy eyes are just breaking my heart! |

Please don't forget, everyone, that they also have a cat called Grace and 15 kittens to rehome, just as urgently as all the dogs.

Not really, it's one of the Home Counties, just outside (NW of) London. I think Warwickshire's in the West midlands (just East of Wales!).

Sorry about going off-topic somewhat but chloehandbags, have you heard of Wiccaweys?
Paul & Sarah are a wonderful couple who help rescue stray and abandoned working sheepdogs and border collies, and if you happen to be in the vicinity, perhaps you could drop by? Or if you have doggie leads and other stuff, you don't want anymore, their lovely dogs would be pleased to have them Thanks in advance.http://www.wiccaweys.co.uk |
