No responses from the organisations I've emailed so far (not that I'm surprised :() Have contacted some people I used to "speak" to on forums over the past few years - they are based in the US, and a few have reverted to say they'll pass the link on to contacts who work in rescue organisations. Hope to hear updates from them soon.

So please don't just send the links to friends you are constantly in contact with, please send them to friends you may have lost touch with (as in my case).

Aarti, I think we're waiting for latest updates from people like ETenebris. Laurel at the shelter is probably too busy to give an update. Hopefully, she'll be able to get media coverage - that would certainly go a long way to ensuring that all the animals are adopted before this Saturday.

I'm still waiting to hear back from several e-mails I've written about the animals in LA. I've found a couple more places to contact this morning, so hopefully I'll hear something.

I haven't heard anything back from the news channel I emailed or the fax I sent to the other organization. I surely hope there is a good update

Nor have I; I guess it's just not considered news, as millions of healthy, friendly, cats and dogs are killed every year.

Chloehandbags, what about writing to celebrities - worth a try even if they ignore the emails?

http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:I...g&ct=clnk&cd=5

I love the bit about James Cromwell ("Babe" was simply charming):

"Actor James Cromwell, who was the voice of Farmer Hoggett in Babe has been raising his own voice in support of farm animals through Farm Sanctuary Says James, "If any kid ever realized what was involved in factory farming they would never touch meat again. I was so moved by the intelligence, sense of fun and personalities of the animals I worked with on Babe that by the end of the film I was a vegetarian."

Any idea how their contact emails can be obtained? Thanks.

Thats a hard one. I would say the best bet would be through a fan club email address or something like that. Someone who's in the entertainment industry could better answer that one.

The day I realized what "factory farming" was, I knew I had 2 choices, go vegetarian or only buy meat that was humanely raised. I chose the latter, and only buy organic. I must say, that it tastes better, I feel better (both physically and mentally), and I know I'm doing right by not supporting the cruelty that is factory farming. Also, a dirty little secret - the FDA knows that shooting these animals with all of this stuff causes cancer. The hormones given to animals are causing our children to become sexually mature at a very early age(this goes for milk, too). Sorry for the ramble, but the more people that know about this, the better place the world will be.

ps - still no word on the LA kitties, except that every shelter is over capacity b/c it's kitten season. I'm heartbroken over this and only hope that I may be able to start my own shelter someday so I can help them.

are ppl in that area either LA or WV putting up flyers? I was thinking about sending a word document to organisation (libraries, etc.) or buisnesses just to put up a few flyers??

What is the current deadline for both of them? How did they chose the "urgant" dogs? What is the cat situation?

Sorry for my delay in responding, passerby!

As I said in my PM to you, I am, typically (great timing!), snowed under at work at the moment.

I think Ellen DeGeneres looks like a good one to try, as according to the info on your link, she does a lot of work for animal shelters.

Pigs are really intelligent, even more so than cats and dogs.

I, personally, think that people who eat meat, should try to avoid eating mammals, as they are just too close to us; both in terms of intelligence and also in terms of disease transference (e.g. BSE > CJD).

No idea how to obtain their emails, sorry. I think it would probably be quite hard, as they don't want stalkers to get hold of them!

I don't know about LA. Probably tomorrow (Thursday); as they seem to go on a week to week basis (and some of them were killed first thing, last Friday morning ).

The deadline for the WV pets is 1st July (Saturday).

IMPORTANT UPDATE: More dogs have been added to the URGENT category. There are now a total of 7.

He was picked up as a stray but appears to have been well cared for - he appears to be housebroken, does not go to the bathroom in his kennel - waiting to be walked first. He walks well on a leash and is very friendly with everyone he meets. He appears to chase cats. He is doing very well so far meeting the dogs at our shelter - prefering females to males so far. If you are interested in meeting Dylan, please call the shelter at 304-496-9379 (or email: Hampshirecountyac@yahoo.com).
