All the best in your business, Chloehandbags. Do you support British indie designers?

Twinklette, do you know of any tPFer who's in the media?

I just wanted to post a link directly to the page, with the link to the website page listing all the animals, again.

The ones marked URGENT need to be rehomed this morning, as otherwise they will be killed today:

Here's their photos, again:

Thanks, Passerby!

We primarily stock fine jewellery (normally 18 carat [Karat] gold and platinum, set with precious stones and a lot of vintage and antique pieces, which I adore); so, not yet, but I'm looking into it.

If you know of any you would recommend, particularly if they produce higher end items, I'd be very interested to hear about them!

By the way, you mentioned an office; would it be rude of me to ask what you do?

Secretary My boss just came back from a business trip today, otherwise I'd have taken sick leave (half day).

Leather bags - have you seen a Luz de Laguna bag?

Don't think so, they sound vaguely familiar, though. Do they have a website?

Here's an idea
If anyone across the country wants to adopt, maybe we can do some fund raising to cover the shipping fees. I myself cannot adopt one but sure don't mind contributing some money so these pets can be adopt.

Again, if I can help with anything else just let me know.
Super idea, txngo! I'll join in the fund-raising as well. On another forum, a poster posted this piece of info:

One other thing ... there's an organization called CUR--Canine Underground Railroad--that transports dogs across the country for rescue purposes. It's made up of volunteers who meet other volunteers and drive a distance they're willing to drive to meet another volunteer and hand off the dog. So the infrastructure is in place to get these dogs moved somewhere else if they have a destination ...

What a fantastic idea!

So, just to clarify, everybody!

Wherever you are in the US, you can adopt these animals, without having to worry about transportation problems!!!

BTW, thanks for the link to the Luz de Laguna website, passerby!

OK, I've had a reply from the Paw Paw Shelter. I seem to have offended them, somehow. Does anyone here think I sounded rude in my email? I wanted to sound urgent, but not rude.

I'm not sure how saying we are working hard, implies that they are not.

Here's their reply (with my original email):

WE all work very hard to not have to put any animals to sleep how ever I am just a volunteer helping out and have no say in the matter. You may try contacting Laurel at 304-492-5442, she is our shelter manager and is trying to do all she can to keep these dogs alive.
Thanks Amber

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you concerning the fate of the animals in your shelter. I am a member of a forum, with many thousands of members, which has a lot of animal lovers on its boards and we are doing all we can to find your animals homes (some of our members have expressed an interest and some of these may have contacted you, already).

Although it is not an animal forum, the owners of the forum have, very kindly, posted the pics of the three most urgent dogs on the home page, as well as a link to the thread about all the animals:

http://www.purseblog.com/

We are also spreading the word about their plight, to other forums and to the US media (national and local) and contacting animal charities, to see whether they can help. Additionally, we are trying to arrange a fund, to pay for their transportation to other parts of the US.

Here is the link, to the relevant thread, on our forum:

http://forum.purseblog.com/general-discussion/pets-desperate-need-homes-6-24-can-you-26149.html

We have been and will continue to work very hard to try to save these animals. In the light of this, please can you tell me if it is at all possible to, at least, delay the date that these animals will be put-down?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards,

x.

Anyway, I think, as suggested, everyone in the US should try to contact Laurel at 304-492-5442, ASAP!!!

Chloehandbags, maybe she took exception to the "work very hard" in italics? But I don't think you sounded rude at all.

Glad you edited out your name

Yes, I thought she might have; but I was just trying to emphasise that we were trying our best - not trying to compete in any way, or insinuate anything.

HeHeHe! Whoops!!!

I wouldn't normally mind, but with the whole Authenticate This! monaco-babe/paparazzi-girl debacle; I'd rather not give too much away!

If this centre is nearer to you, perhaps you could consider rehoming one, or two, of these, instead.

You will have to be very quick off the mark and call first thing this morning, or it will be too late.

I'm really upset over this. Many of these animals have probably survived Hurricane Katrina, and now they will die needlessly. I don't know how a person can bring themselves to do such a thing.

I will, as soon as I can.

Do you come from/did you live in, the UK, at any point? Because your English is absolutely perfect!

I went to a website just now and got a little depressed reading about animals in similar situations to those in the Paw Paw shelter.

I know, I did the same. Actually, it made me cry.

I called and left a message asking again about whether they can ship any of the animals. Here is a list that I found of who is "left" and in the most dire need of adoption/relocation:
Furio
UPDATE: I talked to Laurel. Many dogs have already been taken in to homes or shelters.
Here are the dogs most in need of adoption:
MacKenzie
Dylan
Wesley
Bryan
Kobe
Dixie
Poppy
Harmony
Babe Scarlet

Also, there are many, many cats in need.
