Four hours' sleep for me - not unusual I'm used to it. Thank Robbie Xabi Alonso won't be playing later - otherwise I might be distracted.

I haven't heard from any organisation - have you? One of those lovely ladies I emailed (from the old American Idol forum - great fan of Bo Bice) said if only she could adopt every single one of those animals ...

Gosh, four hours sleep, on a regular basis; you must have a stronger constitution, than me, passerby!

No, no one yet. But it's still early in the US, so there's still hope.

Ahh, how sweet!

Thanks for posting on there, it seems much livelier than any of the pet forums I tried.

I'm 50 - can't keep this up much longer. However, as long as there are forums to spam on in the middle of the night ...

http://www.craftersforcritters.com

Great site - indie designers helping animals in need.

Have contacted them for help but not sure if they will read this in time. :(

Couldn't post while I was at the office earlier on but I checked this thread and was relieved to find you posting.

Well done chloe_handbags and passerby, you've both done some amazing work here...
Situations like this are so sad, but to a certain extent it's out of our control. If i could rescue every pet that's ever in trouble, i would, but it's just not possible..

Thanks for the kind words, chicky - if only we didn't have to do this.

Can't adopt but I'm rather good at copying and pasting

If I wore a beret, I'd take it off to chloehandbags (don't blush, girl) - (Psst, wiccaweys could sure use your help!! Hope you'll contact Paul & Sarah - amazing people, sacrificed a lot for the sake of animals they love)

I went to a website just now and got a little depressed reading about animals in similar situations to those in the Paw Paw shelter.

IRL, I could now say something along the lines of 'Oh, really? You don't look it!'.

But, of course, on here, I have no idea whether you do, or not!!!

All I can say is, you must have stamina, because I'm quite a bit younger and I can't survive for long without, at least, 6 hours (preferably 8 or 9!)!

Let's hope so.

I wrote to the shelter in Paw Paw and told them what the PFers are doing and asked if they could, in the light of this, provide a stay of execution.

I was worried that it might drop too far down the page and someone might miss it!

I could hear the virtual; 'Alright, alright, shut up, already!'s!!!

Thanks for checking in, even though you couldn't post. I was starting to feel lonely.

Absolutely brilliant idea to write to Paw Paw!

Must think of someone on this forum who's in the media and loves animals (hopefully) - radio's best, agree?

Thanks, chicky!

I know exactly what you mean - but these animals haven't even had the 'normal' amount of time to find a new home.

Not that animals that have should be killed, of course, but you KWIM?

Thanks!

I certainly agree that we've probably got much more chance of getting it onto local radio, than national TV, yes.

Looks like a great organisation, this:

http://www.animalalliancenyc.org/events/alliance.htm

Maybe they can offer advice - ie media to contact?

Sorry for the delay in responding, passerby, I'm trying to run my business (sort of! ) and do this, at the same time!

OK, I've emailed them saying this (if anyone wants to copy it, to save time, to send to any animal organisation; that would be fine!):

Dear Sir or Madam,

39 young, healthy, good-natured dogs (and puppies) and cats (mainly kittens) are facing death; some today (23rd June) and some tomorrow; if they are not offered a new home, now!!!

They are to be killed, to make room for the unfortunate animals of a mentally ill hoarder, as these animals are evidence in her court case. Many of the condemned animals were nursed back to health, after being rescued from similar people.

It is hard to decide who is more mentally ill; the hoarder, or the makers of a law, which puts the prosecution of a crime, above the victims of similar crimes' lives.

Here is a thread on a forum, with more details:

http://forum.purseblog.com/general-discussion/pets-desperate-need-homes-6-24-can-you-26149.html

Also, here is a link to a website, listing the condemned animals (the ones marked URGENT, will be the first ones to die, today):

http://search.petfinder.com/shelterSearch/shelterSearch.cgi?animal=&breed=&age=&size=&specia lNeeds=&declawedPets=&children=&status=&id=&intern al=&contact=&name=&shelterid=WV89&sort=&preview=1

If you have any room at all, please can you take all, or some, of these animals?

We also feel that this should be the subject of a national media campaign in the US. So, if you have any media contacts, please can you do whatever you can, to help, ASAP?

I know these animals are just a drop in the ocean, but I had to try to help.

Thank you so much for your excellent work, for reading this and for any help you can give.

Kind Regards,

x.

P.S. These animals, from another shelter are also due to be killed this morning; if you, or another shelter can help:

http://search.petfinder.com/shelterS...ort=&preview=1

BTW, passerby, do we know that they're no-kill?

Great post there! OMG I don't know about the no-kill thing.

Will not ask you what business you run as it's really none of my business. *bites tongue*

Thanks again! Yes, apparently we should be looking for no-kill shelters as most of them only keep the animals for a while before 'having' to put them down to make room for the next lot.

I posted a few links to some shelters in the Virginia area on a previous post, on this page (some of the links don't seem to work, though):

I don't mind telling you, at all!

I run (or try to run - I don't seem to be very good at telling people what to do!) a fine jewellery and leathergoods retail business.

Whenever I found a stray I couldn't keep I always went to a no kill shelter. Not the local pounds because they WILL euthanise very quickly. Please try to find a local no kill shelter, it makes A BIG difference. I pray that all these animals find a home :( What a tragic situation.

Thanks, Twinklette. Very good advice.

I think we're all praying they do.
