Well, it has been a horrible week. Turns out that Penny's cancer has returned with a vengeance. She now has multiple tumors throughout her little body and the doctors have determined that not even chemo will do her much good. We are all just heartbroken. She has only been in our lives 7 months and has touched us in so many ways.
The doctors gave her some meds to make her comfortable and it will be up to my parents to know when the time is right to let her go. Please say some prayers for our little girl, Penny. ![]() ![]()

I'm so sorry about Penny. She is such a beautiful little girl. Spend as much time with her as you can and treasure the memories.

OH NO!!! I am so sad to read this. Penny has been through so much. I am so happy that you found her and with th help of your parents were able to make her time here happy for her. It is better to have 7 months of love, than never to have been loved, cuddled, cherished at all.

BagMania - thank you. Unfortunately, I live around an hour away from my parents and Penny and have a fundraiser for our shelter going on this weekend, so I won't be able to see dear Penny until Sunday.
Annemerrick - thank you as well. I keep reminding my mom exactly what you said in your post. Penny will cross over the bridge knowing that she was loved so much. It's just so darn hard. To everyone reading this thread - PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, spay and neuter your pets. Little Penny may not have had to go through this had her previous owners had her spayed. Please keep this in mind. |

I'm so sorry your little girl was not meant to be with you for longer. Because of you she has a wonderful life full of love no matter how long it was.

Poor little Penny. Her last months have been filled with love, thanks to you and your parents, miu2. I'll pray for a peaceful passing to the Rainbow Bridge.
We've lost a couple dogs to cancer; all I wanted was for them not to suffer. Spay or neuter your pets!!!!!!! It's one of the best things you can do for their long-term health and to help reduce the pet over-population. |

I'm so so sorry. This made me cry. At least Penny has the most wonderful home now and she knows there are people that love and care about her. This is the best that could have happened to her.
You and your parents are wonderful people! |

No no no. This made me tear up. This is so sad, especially because had her owners taken the time to spay her this would not be happening.
Penny is a brave soul. She went through some surgeries with dignity, she did not complain, and she continued to love life. Each animal teaches us something. Prayers and hugs to Penny, you and your family. We will be here for you. |
