I recently posted this thread asking for opinions of which pics to post on our flyers and invites to a fundraiser we are putting on the help our local animal shelter. Here is that post: Need opinions on which pic i should put on fundraiser invitations!! Several members have asked if they can donate, so I have just heard back from a mod that she thinks it would be fine.

Our local animal shelter is over 50 years old and is in dire need of help. We are located in So. California where the temperatures reach unbearable numbers. The shelter had purchased some shading materials, unfortunately with the economy as it is, the animal shelter's budget was dramatically cut and they do not have the money to complete the job (approximately $20,000). Therefore, several of us have decided to form a non-profit corp. which is dedicated to raising the funds to complete this project so that the dogs have shade with the upcoming summer heat.

We will be having an all day fundraiser at our family's restaurant on May 18th in hopes of raising the money needed. Our longer term goal is to build a new shelter which will include a grooming area and a vet on-site. Right now, the shelter is infested with rodents, cockroaches and kennel cough is rampant. It has been found that a dog which is groomed and generally healthy will have a much higher chance of adoption. We have already spoken with the City and they are willing to provide us the land, we just need to come up with the funds to build the shelter. We know that our adoption rate would increase dramatically with a new shelter. As has been said before, "If you build it, they will come".

The name of our non-profit is H.E.A.L. (Helping Every Animal League) and the tax ID is 26-4707994. We do not have a website set up yet, but if you are interested, please pm me and I can give you information on where to send any donations!! Thank you so much!!

Okay, I have an appointment this afternoon to set up the account for the non-profit. As soon as I have that, I will set up a Paypal account. Will be posting that info here as soon as I have it!!
